Hi last year while away we lost 249 volt on fridge. No dramas I'm thinking it will be the element.
We got by on 12v and gas for the trip. Go forward to this month when. I put van in for MOT service and fridge.

Go to collect van they tell me all's good. But on collection tell me my fridge needs a new PCB. They can't find any and if they could. Can't fit it as there have guy leaves that week.

Come home and started my own research. And having a good look see what I can do. Fridge I think worked on 12v on way home but wasn't cold cold. So I'm a little unsure.
I now couldn't fire it up on gas either and now no lights showing in fridge. Bit more poking and a chocolate box was rusty on one wire. 240 was getting to fridge socket ok.
So fridge out PCB out sent to applejack for repair. Day before good Friday they inform me they don't repair those boards at moment.

So now I'm uncertain what to do. I've asked applejack if they can check it works. But no idea if they can. And be a day or 3 I guess before they even let me know.
Now I'm thinking this fridge is 18 years young. A direct replacement used is approx £1200 new approx 3k.

If it's just PCB a new element approx £350 to £450 but is it those things ? Or then reading here a new Thetford be just over £1000.

I really don't know what to do tbh I'm no electrician can't use a multi meter. So can you clever people advise me please ? Thanks in advance Paul

Oops fridge is Dometic 7655L AES

Got my PCB back today £25 give it take a few shillings to do a return trip. To applejack electronics. To be told they can't test or fix it. I'll get it refitted asap.

We had one break down on our dometic fridge. Put a new one in .we saved the old one to get it looked at at some point but never did. Whilst in Spain we had a bleeping issue with the fridge and couldn't stop it. I put back the old pcb control board and it worked straight away. I think it was moisture that had caused a short and the "old" board had just probably dried itself put kept in an airtight tub.
Try drying out your board with an alcohol wipe over the soldered connections( whilst it's disconnected) (y)

At this moment in time it isn't.
I've got fridge out so I can get to stuff easier. Started putting PCB together and have a part missing. Looked everywhere can't be found. i did knock the washing up bowl over. But this particular part can't be found.

Story of my life recently more steps back than forward.
I'll post a pic of part but I can't find one online. But don't know it's name or part number.
It makes up the control box to magnify. The LEDs .

A few years.
That's a right pain in the butt. Does it need to be fitted to see if it works? Just thinking no point if trying to find that rocking horse part if the fridge don't work anyway?

Proberly not but not ideal I've searched high and low it's hiding somewhere.
I did discover a broken wire though that I've repaired. If I'm confident it can be fixed I'll need new burner and to clean flue etc

I was told the same thing when ours went. I sent it to this chap:

…who did a 1st class repair, return postage paid, for £59.99

Really quick service and the fridge works as good as new. (y)

Today's news I I have the FF a bear hug. Squeezed it into its place wired it back up appears to get power on 12 and 240v. And gas igniter is working. Now leaving it on 240 see if it's cooling.
If not then I'll have to call on Lenny.
But I'm possibly thinking all this time it was the tiny pink wire.
If the 240 volt isn't chilling can only be element. And I can replace that no problem.

Ok fridge out element out. Shall I just night bullet and buy a new one. Picking new one up in morning bloody expensive at least I can check it's correct.
Ille get it back in of calls good. I will treat it to a new burner and Jet.

I've also found a sh FF same as mine I may take a road trip to collect it for parts as it's cheap.
So are all the lights etc working as they should?
Yes

Well because I can't use a multi metre. I put a plug on it and it heats up 🤔

So it must be the PCB I guess.

Any ideas ?
