Even a fiver for an immigrant doonhamer would have been a shock to the system for you! We’ve been away for just over 50 nights and our average nightly price is under £5
Spot on, we used to have takeaway fish & chips on wednesdays, the shop was always busy, sometimes queuing out of the door. Stopped going now due to relentless price rises. When I drive past it's mostly empty nowadays. Mini fish & chips used to be £2.50 not too long ago, it doubled in a couple of years, not been for about 3 years.I have always felt sorry for the "Tugger's" we started off 7 years ago with a top notch brand new caravan, we used it 12/13 times in 16 months on a storage campsite in North Devon. It didnt take me long to work out that lugging this 23 foot trailer all over the country and Europe wasnt going to work for us, as you would need to pre-book sites not just go add hoc and take your chances.
I would guess that many well seasoned caravaners are now feeling the pinch of todays site prices, more than ever, and are not able to afford some of the sites that they have enjoyed in the past, especially not for any long duration in summer.
Slight thread drift, apologies upfront.
Reminds me of the weekly Fish & Chip supper that a lot of people had on Friday nights for a family of 4 maybe, how many have to think twice about having them every week nowadays?, too many I guess, every time I visit my local one they have gone up in price.
So many things we took for granted as affordable, for most of our lives, are no longer, so something has to give, the leisure market will be the 1st to feel it.

the wi-fi is free with with no time constraint except you have to sign on every 60 minutes .They deserve to go bust with prices like that.
Even C&MC have realised that they are overpriced. Now offering free nights.
We stayed at Moreton-in-Marsh site recently and tried to sign on to their advertised free WiFi.
One hour free at (I think) 10mb/s, otherwise pay for longer and better connection. On their follow up questionnaire I pointed out that, for other sites particularly within mainland Europe, free WiFi tends to mean usable WiFi.
Yes, but what a palaver just to access WiFi !the wi-fi is free with with no time constraint except you have to sign on every 60 minutes .
works for emailing , general surfing , FB although not streaming .
ShhhhMakes CAMC prices look like a bargain…
Can we follow you next time.Look away now if a UK tourer and of a nervous disposition.
We have recently come back from 3 months travelling from Poland, through Slowakia-Austria-Italy-Greece and back same way.
We never paid for a site nor parking.
Plus tourism tax, in Wales anyway, coming in.And with NI and minimum wage hikes coming another excuse or reason for more increases
Yes but we mustn't worry..it's all going to bring growth and masses of foreign investment to the UK.(Or so we are being told)Plus tourism tax, in Wales anyway, coming in.
