We are regular visitors to this car park and see the same old vans time and again with people clearly long term, so not surprising that this has happened. There have been concerns about pollution in Buck Beck for a while so as usual a few selfish people have ruined it for others.

I thought I saw another thread where they had opened an aire there, perhaps part of the plan.

Yes, that is the car park the other side of the miniature railway. No waste facilities there either.

Just another excuse to charge for parking really.

With the height barriers there's no reason to charge the cars parking. If the "evidence of toilet waste " is of course really a toilet being emptied and not car drivers shitting outside.

If there are no public toilets in the area where do they think the people parking for 10 hours are going to do the toilet?

A £12 charge to park overnight in a carpark with no services is also overpriced and short sighted.

As usual UK councils not actually resolving the issue just introducing charges once again.

I'm paying £7 for 24hrs in Abingdon, went into town had a Thai meal for lunch a couple of pints in a local pub, swerved another pub as they are card only. Settled in for the night. Its a shame all councils are shortsighted. However I'm sure some pratt will get some chairs out and try to spend a week here leaving a mess.
Although it's probably the same council that runs oxford Park and ride which does not have provision for motorhomes

and not car drivers shitting outside.
This^^^^^^^Another thread about the "amount of dog shite in spain" made me laugh. Around here where i walk daily it isn't dogs doing it but people. every day there is a new load of shite here & there where I walk . it isn't dogs unless they are wiping there r'ss. It just joins the overnight additions of dunkies , tampons & sanitary pads before & after they've had a shag.
& this is around the perimeter roads of a commercial centre:
If it is a legal requirement for me to pick up after my dogs, which i do, then I expect the human scum to be doing the same.
If there are no public toilets in the area where do they think the people parking for 10 hours are going to do the toilet?
Exactly . along with no litter bins & a "take your rubbish home" sign for those 1500miles away from it.

If you are parked there for a walk along the front and into the town for lunch then toilets no problem.

Looks like quite a few litter bins in the car park if you check on Google Earth ;)

I'm really not understanding why the question of black waste disposal keeps coming up. If its a 48hours or less time limit why do people need " facilities " ? If its that much if a problem then they really need to go to a campsite and leave these places to people who can manage the arrangements.

They don't but £12 per night without them is expensive.

And removing the motorhomes from the equation there will STILL be rubbish and waste

You know the area better than I do.
I don't need to know the area ....I only need to know people . These days most who want to use the restaurant, cafe etc will park next to them . Those parking at the beach are mostly going to the beach.

I guess 48 hours is a bit flexible sometimes and if somebody had just moved from another 48 hour spot then they might have a problem, I don’t know how long the RV has been there but it’s on Google satellite image and street view.

yes but the shit & shagging goes on behind & around the area laid out with roads for ·"future housing". that all had bins as well but no one to empty them & they've gradually been destroyed.

Motorhomes separate entrance at Redbridge, Oxford Park and Ride. Opposite Go OutDoors/CCC site.

I have been searching Google Earth for ages to see where "Marine Walk Car Park" is but I cannot find it!
Every other car park is on the Cleethorpes map, except Marine Walk, have they named it wrongly in the newspaper article?
I have been scrolling up & down that bloomin promenade all night, could have eaten a ton of ice cream by now, seeing how much is on offer.:giggle:
I think the NE coast is becoming more difficult every year to find suitable MH parking spots, whether free or not, its enough to put us off even thinking of going to these places, shame about the few spoiling things for all of us, but that's just a sad reflection of todays careless society.
If councils really want to provide a better cleaner environment for all, they need to consider more accessible/affordable parking, serviced public toilets, and more bins, with regular collection.
Use parking charges to help pay towards these services, local council tax payers are already well stitched up I bet.
If parking charges are too high though, then that's a further nail in the coffin of the high street, it has to be balanced fairly from all sides.

Post 5 then. Its not up to Cleethorpes or any other town to provide "facilities" for van lifers who are taking the p*ss ( this is obviously not aimed at you martin). What we really need is a system like NZMCA so people are accountable.

People will always take the piss. Stop them doing it in one place they will just move to another.

But the answer is NOT to just keep banning or charging the majority who don't take the piss but unfortunately that's the short sighted attitude of these councils.

My mistake, I read it as only parking on the street next to the park and ride. I will take more time to check it out next time we pass as I like oxford. Thank you.

If somebody moves on from a 48 hour slot they are not forced to go straight to another one as they could go somewhere in between to dispose of their waste properly. If they do not it is their choice.
The fact is, though, that there are some people who think they should be able to do what they want, where they want, and pay anything only if they want to. They are the entitled ones who spoil things for those who take responsibility for themselves.

That's so true, time and time again we read that a facility has been stopped or height barriers erected but some people just can't accept that we have brought it on ourselves. Only recently I learned that there was a private car park in Guisborough that allowed overnight parking for a fee, it's actually the back of the care home that Jens mum is in and we were on our way somewhere a couple of weeks ago so called in to see her before we left, we parked up and headed across the car park but we were told that they had stopped campers parking anymore, we were then told it was because toilets were being emptied into the bushes (n) as a private business they had no incentive to stop overnight parking as it was money in the bank but no it was spoiled by the few.

I honestly think some of these "van life" videos havent helped. Too many people have jumped on board in the belief that they never have to pay for anything else.

New Zealand has a great setup, they have a certification for self containment and the NZMCA scheme issues its members with a number to display, thus making them accountable, the upside is that they can stop in the many NZMCA locations and enjoy serious discounts on camping etc. Almost the complete opposite of the UK caravan club. They still have a problem with camping in unsuitable vehicles but the wardens hand out serious penalties to those in the wrong place without the certification.
