Angle morts

Any info or clarification plse regarding Angle Morts sticker requirements in France.
Van is 3500kg max and trailer 2000 kg max.
Are they considered as separate vehicles and therefore do not exceed the 3500kg threshold ?
Or - does the regulation refer to combined weight?

I understand that trailers are not counted.

So at 3500kg, you do not need Angles Morts.

But do check elsewhere.
