We have booked the caravan & camping site at Salisbury over the Christmas.
Travelling from Essex thought we would stop at Andover for breakfast in the wetherspoons and a look round the town for a hour or so. Does anyone know what the parking is like in the town. Our motorhome is just under 6mts so can get in a normal space .

You can’t really park anywhere car parks are very tight .. The town itself is dead .. full of barber shops ,coffee shops,,betting shops .. that’s about it .
I would just drive straight on to Salisbury .Or
Stockbridge is nice .. expensive to eat ..
You can park just outside in a long parking bay ..and a short walk into the village .

Thanks for the reply
Much appreciated.

Couple of large car parks at the back of Weatherspoons, market trucks park there so you should be ok

I usually stop at the Middle Wallop Army Air Corps museum cafe. You do not need to visit the museum to use the cafe, although it's well worth a visit if you have not been before.
Also Danbury rings ,nice walk ,close to middle wallop ,large parking area ,also close to Stockbridge . As said Andover ,nothing there, except market square

On A30 ,yes a long ‘ clean ‘ lay bye

Whilst around Sailisbury in the same area: Old Sarum, Boscombe Down Aviation Collection and a few tins at Dark Revolution Brewery. The Harvester is fine too.

Andover itself is a dump but beautiful countryside in the Test Valley and surrounding area. Danebury Ring a good shout but car park is a known spot for vehicle break ins.

Salisbury and Winchester are nice local Cities.

Stockbridge very pretty. Good pubs and cafes/restaurants.

To those of you slagging off Andover it's no different to many uk towns, those that live there love it.
The op was only looking for breakfast en route!

I was born in Andover and currently live here 😉

The old address puzzle.

Wood
Lyn
Hants.

And the aircraft radio call "Hello Dover, this is an Andover coming over from Hannover with a load of Rovers, over."

Sorry, used to get bored at school.

Both places worth a visit , Winchester designated camper parking worthy rd near railway station , if visiting weekend park in station car park , cheap being weekend

I'm a regular driver of the A303 (London to Cornwall every 6 weeks or so for 40+ years), so I've been to most of the towns, cafes and camp sites en-route at some point.

Best thing to see in Andover is the bypass.

I make a point of never using Fleet services on the M3 except for the loo.
Probably the most expensive fuel in the UK.

I'd go to Winchester.
Quite a lot to see, and 'sort of' on the way to Salisbury (a lot more to see)

For breakfast the Dinky Diner on the A303/A338 always seems to be popular.
We had no problem parking our 6.7m van there.
(A338 is one of the A303 turn offs for Salisbury)
