And now the bloomin' Gaslow cylinder won't fill !!

Spriddler for whats its worth, we have had the same problem with the LPG Apps either not being accurate or not being updated sine the LPG pumps have been removed, I guess this will only get worse as time goes on, especially as Shell are removing them round our way. We travel miles to one listed gas station in Dorset, only to be told "we have never had LPG here"
On re-filling I had the same problem with one of our Gaslow's, gauge said nearly empty on one of the 11KG tanks as we had been using it a lot. Went into Shell Garage just off A1 on the way home from a rally, and although it worked it only took £2.50 worth of gas:unsure:
I then dove nearer home and tried at another shell garage, and got if fully topped up, so yes the pumps do play up at certain times, hell knows why, just accept it and go on to the next if you are sure that you do need gas.
Don't trust the gauges to be that accurate, if in doubt release the supporting straps and rock the cylinder to feel the weight.
Good luck.

90% of my gas use is abroad and I have never failed to come across a pump 'over there' whilst on passage without recourse to Google or an app. I only top up in U.K. before a trip. My local Shell one, 2 miles away removed the pump at a site refurb in January so it was the first time I'd had to go online to search. The results were disappointingly innacurate.

Result!
Just been to the same garage and used the same pump where I had no luck on Sunday. It worked perfectly first go.
Coincidentally there had been a gas delivery yesterday but I don't know if that's relevant as when I had failed to fill mine on Sunday the guy behind me used the same gas pump without any problem. Perhaps the non-return valve in his cylinder opens at a lower pressure than mine. Either that or my 80% shut-off float had stuck shut and the subsequent 40 miles of driving between attempts had freed it.
The helpful and well-informed cashier said that it's not unusual for the LPG pump to play up but the company's insurance forbids them to leave the shop to help at any pump unless the driver is disabled.
Anyway, much relieved now and the m/h has had a good run.
I still get a buzz out of how cheap is the gas relative to Calor. :giggle:

Just as a follow up........
I spoke to a very helpful and knowledgeable Louise at Gaslow today. In short she said that:
- Highly unlikely that either of the non-retun valves in the filling circuit have stuck shut. It has never been reported to them anyway.
- There shouldn't be any delay in the pump starting to deliver gas after the button is pressed and held.
- Most filling stations have relatively small tanks and their pressure can drop to the level where it's insufficient to open the filler point or cylinder non-return valves.
- She suggested trying a different garage. Trouble is that there is only one (where I went originally) within 25 miles of me (I'm 10 miles North of Brighton).
I looked on MyLPG, FillLPG, DriveLPG, GetLPG, Autogas, and a couple of other sites and found 14 which were supposed to have LPG pumps. In spite of the searched sites being listed specifically as auto LPG stations out of the 14 'hits' only 5 actually had LPG pumps (all between 25 and 40 miles away). 2 of the listed stations had recently removed theirs and 6 had NEVER had LPG pumps at any time. 2 didn't answered my phone call and at one the foreign (Asian I think) guy couldn't understand what I was asking for.
I'm feeling rather smug that when I installed the system 4 years ago I decided on one refillable and one exchangeable Calor cylinder.
I still have to find out why the Gaslow cylinder wouldn't fill.

If you go a bit East, the treacle mine service station on the A22 roundabout at Polegate has a good lpg pump as has the service station on the A22 at Golden Cross.

How do they do that? :giggler:
From the checkout window I guess, using a Taser with a telesopic sight.

Ta. Either filling station would be a special 50 mile round trip for me as I rarely use the m/h in U.K., (being 20 mins from the Newhaven ferry) but as mentioned previously it's sorted for the moment. Fingers crossed.
I'll keep them in mind as I occasionally go by m/bike to Groombridge Motorcycles but I could take the m/h Eastwards instead just to top up the gas.

One of the very good reason that it shuts off at 80% is the real danger liquified gas could enter the pipe work which would deliver a sheet of flame to any burner in use at the time. IT IS VERY IMPORTANT that you do not exceed the cut-off point. We use the vapour coming off the liquid gas, vehicles using gas have the liquid delivered to the cylinders.
