And Now Our Heating Doesn't Work!

Have you tried what previous posters have suggested and started engine, keeping it running while trying heating?

No, we have neighbours right now and I don't want to annoy them. This site is very, very quiet. So, we're waiting until we get home and will try then :)

I'm guessing you have the digital panel? We have the STD one, so no error codes on it. I hope you get yours sorted :)
Thank you SO, SO much!! It's good to know someone has the same system as us. When we tried it, we waited about 30 minutes and nothing was happening. Granted, we didn't go outside and listen or check for exhaust gases. We're going to try again when we get home and see if we can get it to work, following your instructions above. Thank you very much again! I'll let you know how we get on :)
I suspect the heating vent flaps may be closed. Also, you do have error codes on your little control panel. Its in the form of the number of flashes you will get on the status light. You may not see this tiny light until you switch on your Webesto, when you do you should see a little green dot light up in the bottom right hand corner of your control panel. A continuous green light means all is well and working, Flashing light means a fault. Count the number of flashes and refer to handbook for fault. No light at all is almost certainly a blown fuse which will be very close to your habitation battery, Probably 10 Amp.

This is our control panel. We haven't had any blinking at all, just static lights.
At the bottom of this picture on the right it says 'on status' This is the light that should be on once you choose one of the settings on the left hand control knob.

The first thing I thought of was you had your heating on at the same time as your water heater.

I could be totally incorrect but I heard the Mrs say that if the water heater and hot air are on at the same time the hot air wont come on til water is sorted.

That may or may not be your issue.

Thank you for your reply. The green light lights up and stays static. Also, when I put just the hot water or hot water and heating on, the red lights come on on the knobs. I didn't even know the vent flaps open and close! We'll have a play when we get home. Thank you again for all your help! We really appreciate it :)

Yes that all sounds normal to me. I would either put the hot water on or the heating on, not both at the same time as it takes ages with the Webesto trying to do both at the same time. Much quicker to do one at a time. I'm leaning more and more to your vents not being open. However, with either the hot water or heating selected you should hear the Webesto purring away under the van. Give it 5 minutes after selecting heating or hot water and go outside and have a listen. If you can get hot water you know your Webesto is working.

I had a look on the internet and here is a picture of your habitation area. Below the bed near the floor you can see one of the heating outlets. The small round disc shaped hole with a flap in the middle. The flap needs to be pushed open for any hot air to escape. You may also have one in the toilet area, and others in the habitation area.

Yes, this is pretty similar to mine and I do indeed have a vent in the same place as this one. However, mine don't have flaps, they just has lines across them. This is one of them;

It doesn't really do anything, apart from turns round and round.

So, I tried again to get the heater to work. Here's what happened;
  1. The status Iight was static green
  2. I turned the right hand knob to about 12 o'clock
  3. I turned the left hand knob to heating only
  4. Both knobs showed a red light and the status light remained static.
  5. Nothing else happened for about 5 minutes, then I could here the same whirring noise that I hear when the water is heating.
  6. I put my hand near one of the vents and I could feel cold air being blown in, so I waited about 5 minutes to see if it would warm up. It didn't, so I turned the right hand knob up full. It still didn't get warm.
  7. Out of interest, I then turned the left hand knob to heating and water but it still just blew cold air.
  8. I then turned the knob to 40 degrees water and the whirring stopped, I guess because the water was warm enough.
  9. I then turned the left knob to Off and the whirring started again and I could feel cold air again!! After about 30 seconds, everything went quiet so I left it all alone.
I'm going to have another try tomorrow when I have more time. I feel like I'm at least one step further forward!! :)

I think everything is as it should be. Thee heater will only put out warm/hot air if the temperature in the van is colder than the setting selected on the thermostat. Do what you did again with the heater only selected and wait. It takes a while maybe as much as 15 minutes.
