the man in the van is often seen walking round local area so called beauty spots .or parked up reading i also hear from various sources that when he is parked up he collects litter and places it in bins .as he has done at our depo without being asked .
Sounds like a true flt ....man after ma aen hert

Ok I take my post back if that's what you all think, only suggesting some of the pitfalls there could be before knowing all the facts.
all good feedback. After your valid concerns the OP added more details. 🤷‍♂️
Hope the OP doesn't have any un-thought of situation come from the top act!

he would need to use a lot of electric to offset the cost of hiring a security guard over christmas .its agreed its a winter only agreement .he is also on cctv he knows this .he only parks up at night. daytime he goes out in the van .if he did refuse to move we have a 500BHP 8x4 tow truck .which would probably help in reasonable talks to help him move .a very last case option i hasten to add
When you say that the tow truck would help him move I got a mental image of you tying the strop to him rather than the MH!!!

Think you have a good point --OP has nice kind offer but can turn out awkward depending on person. Like that neighbour who you befriend and cannot get rid of ?? Hope his trust pays off though .

I park up at work and plug in to their electric and WiFi. Part of me persuading work and the landowner to let me stay was that it would be good security having someone here overnight.

I went to the local campsite one night to use the facilities and the next morning I returned to work to find the office doors smashed in and other units burgled. Oops.

I park on a mates farm when I'm not mooching, he was a friend of a friend, we are now mates who help each other out. It works well, I've always got somewhere to go that's cheap, he's got someone in his yard for security. Oh, and I picked up some work from another fella who rents a barn, everyone's a winner.

Win for you, win for him. I would not invite him home for Christmas dinner though👍🏼
I remember years ago a Polish driver turned up at our warehouse just as we were closing up on Christmas Eve. FLT drivers had already left and the poor guy had no choice but to park up and wait until the 27th when we would open.

Felt terrible but nothing I as office staff and my brother as a wood cutter could do. Rang round the family afternoon of Christmas Day and spoke to my sister in law who said Alan was out (very unusual Christmas Day as had a young family) and found out they had plated up an extra Christmas lunch and he had gone back to work to drop it off with a selection of cold buffet food and a couple of cans.

Alan just shrugged when I asked him about it at work - RIP Alan, a true gentleman taken far too early💕

Well Done You !! My new park-up for the Concorde on my own site ,has a double mobile home unit on it too. After a bit of tidying up and a lick of paint for two weeks ,the proprietor of a factory unit opposite ,came over to ask me what i was going to do with the unit ,as he said that one of his workers needs accommodation SO,,I have security,, the factory has security, ,my site is covered by CCTV of my own plus theirs .WIN WIN !! HELP others ,and they can help you ,," KARMA " (y)

so thats the question .over the last few weeks out walking the dog i have noticed a motorhome [newish] parked at various places overnight not causing any problems .no litter etc etc .so me being me struck a conversation up with the occupant [retired male] it turns out that he lives fulltime in his motorhome and is staying over at various places in the district .as there is no where to stay ie a proper site .so i said he could stay at my works depo in a corner of the yard with electric water access to a toilet/sewer .FOC so i now have a on site security man for a very small amount .over christmas .am i soft /silly /shrewd ?
You are a good samaritan .well done.

Great gesture. Well done.
By the by, better not publish your location, there's a shortage of good Aires in the UK....;)

Top man. Why can't more people take this attitude instead of being doubting Thomas types. Give the man a chance.
Possibly because people take the p**s, I'm on a 40 amp breaker so no chance of tripping the electric. I don't abuse it, fridge, battery charger and kettle are the only electric I use. I can see why some people who've got room wouldn't entertain me.

Well done,
I did similar at the start of the 1st lockdown, posted on a website that was offering space for any full timers that were stuck for somewhere and a lady replied. She stayed at my buisness premises, but after 6 weeks ish, she asked if someone could come and join her in another van (2 guys) I had to refuse this as space was tight and I was slightly concerned . She moved on 10 days later.
