I just got this in the post.

The Female end won't plug into the van as the cover/flap prevents it going into the recess on the van. Do I need an adapter or do I just break off the flap on the plug? Doh!

Didn't latch the fridge last week leaving the car park in Looe and climbing up the series of sharp uphill bends to get out. Half a litre of yogurt on the floor with 6 bottles of beer rolling through it for about a mile until I found somewhere to stop.

When I first got the van, took me about 3 days to realise the reason the cupboard above the fridge was so hot and that the fridge wasn't very cold was that I had to remove the vent covers first...:eek::eek:

Thank You - I was right 1st time, I was being thick :)

I failed that test for while as well, also found that some hookups in the UK need twisted when connecting. Spent ages trying until warden walked up and explained - she was my hero for days.

Our 'novice' error was to think that the fridge worked on 12v when the camper was parked up, we went shopping for a hour and came back to right ruddy mess as the ice-cream in the freezer had melted! :D

Back to the subject of electric cables, my Grandmother was known to leave the flex of her ‘new-fangled’ hoover out on the floor before gathering it all up. The reason? “To let the trapped electricity out.” She’d obviously thought about it and, if you do too, you may agree that it wasn’t such a stupid notion!
It's a bit like back when the energy crisis was on somebody recommended keeping appliances plugged into all electric sockets to stop electricity seeping out!

Do you know my grandmother actually believed that - there was never an empty socket in her house!

Do you have to lift one end up as you do with a water hose :)

Before re-wiring, my house didn't even have a socket in every room. Most now have at least two double sockets - and that's still not enough!

I rewired our house.
There is a double socket on every wall in each corner where it can be.
This allows you to move rooms around if you have a wife like mine moving stuff all the time :)

Eight double sockets in this room (not all used) and, still, we have a flying 4-way extension off one of them.

Four walls, four corners. Three doors, two windows. Sockets were supposed to cater for all eventualities.
TV and media create an intense demand for sockets where only four exist.
