I have just purchased (S/H)a set of alugas bottles and the associated pipes. The pigtails do not have the excess flow protection valves on them. When reading descriptions of the alugas bottles it says there is rupture protection in the gas take off valve. When looking at the valves this is not obvious to see and no sign of a reset button. Can anyone confirm that that there is rupture protection in the bottle valves so I do not need the excess flow protection pigtails.

Post a picture of the Alugas bottles you have please .
What age are they as there is 3 different types of valves Alugas have used over the years .

Basildog do thr photos above help?
Yes those particular bottles do have the Rotarex multivalve that incorporates an excess flow valve that negates the need for rupture protection hoses.
However the bottles if dated 2024 are now effectively out of date .
You can get a deal on replacement bottles in Germany or you can just replace them here in the UK .

Same as mine, we plan on going to Germany to get ours sorted next spring, was planning of going in September but have to have radiotherapy in September so delayed our trip. Our bottles are 2016.

As far as I know they just change the top valve part and all pipes ?

You would be best placed to answer what gets done with the bottles as you just did yours I think?

Thank you for the information. If the rupture protection goes off how does it get reset?
My mistake re date, they were fitted new last year, the date on the bottles and pigtails is 2034. Thanks again for your help, very much appreciated.

They only do replacements now, and Alugas no longer do it themselves they have farmed it out to a small company just down the road from them.
Had mine changed in 2023 it was about £400 for two bottles including fitting.
Same price for 11 & 14kg bottles, mine were 14kg so better value.

Hmm, I spoke to the company down the road in June and they weren't interested! Went in a complete circle! I'd be very interested if you have any success!

You just turn the bottle off and then back on again slowly to reset the excess flow valve.

I've decided life is too short and as I have increased my payload by converting to lithium I'll replace them with Gaslow R67 bottles. They are the same as Alugas except they are made of steel.
