Alloys. Did you know?

I used a micro sized bike pump just velcro strapped to the driver's seat base, where I'd routed the valves. The pressure and volume required for semi air is really low.
I've just been watching some you tube videos on VB semi air bag fits at out and about motorhome services.

The fitting is very similar to the airbag fit I did on my Adria coral.

My main issue is the pump position but not really sure I need it as like you on the Adria I also used a bike pump. I could just get out at the port and give it a bit extra for the ferry.

I don’t get why it’s called a mod if you put a different style same size wheel and tyre as technically you’re not altering the spec? I would say if you put a better (softer compound) tyre on, that’s more of a modification🤷‍♂️
Blimey nobody drives a motorhome as it come out the factory, I’ve a list as long as your arm🤷‍♂️
More attractive to those who need things to sell to feed certain habits, who wants second hand standard alloys, but cheep flashy 17” with tyres!

I still don’t buy it, ive uprated my wheels Cos I’ve uprated my weight, the wheels I took off were more flashy than the ones I got on now, it’s not a mod that aesthetically enhances the van, if anything I should get a discount for having boring wheels on with a SAFER weight rating👍👍

Thanks. That's a good tool to use. For my size it actually gives 18mm rise and 3mph difference.

I know there is room for the air bags and I have fitted them on a previous Adria. It's more to do with the compressor and where to put that. We have limited space as it is. Maybe worth further investigation on where it can be put
You don't need a compressor however you can put it wherever you want internally if you do get one. For the number of times you'd need to adjust it I'd stick with a bike pump.

Already checked and the difference with the BF Goodrich and 17inch rim is 40/50mm
Surely you'd only gain a max of 25mm though, not the full 50 mm.

The difference in height 40mm+ was the difference between my van and the van on the forecourt with the new wheels and tyres from the floor to the bottom of the step.
But the suspension could also be better so raising it higher.

As I have to go back soon I might take a measure again before committing. Maybe to the wheel centres would be a better comparison on the height gained
Yes, that would be a better way to check, personally though I'd got for fitting semi-air on the rear as it will give you a better ride and less sway too when travelling, and be cheaper too.

Look online MarTech air suspension £399 everything you need
Air bags rated to 5000kg . Dual controls for individual airbags +
Compressor etc
That's the one I got and fitted myself earlier this year, with the rubena bags.
Works really well. Ground clearance much better.

Yes minxy. I went for the full system. But you are right, hardly ever need to adjust the pressures, could have saved cost of compressor and dual controls.

Out of curiosity what sort of price is semi air .
Other cheaper options on ebay.Relatively straightforward diy job and plenty of vlogs on YT

I find with a compressor when onsite if your parked on a sloped ground you park the front of van on high end of slope ,
And raise rear with air bags also dual switches you can level left and right obviously rear only makes a big difference.

Would you not need a lift to get underneath be a bit awkward on the ground .

Yes I have reassessed the gain with the bigger rims of max25mm. There is a web site you can use to put in old and new dimensions and get the gain.
As far as the semi air. It is now being considered. Not because of the ride improvement it may give though. Compared to the Adria Coral this is a Rolls Royce of a ride on the VW crafter. I can highly recommend. I'm just assessing my skill level although there is a crafter rear air fit on you tube and I can't really see a problem apart from the time as we go for 3 months after xmas and they are having the van back to IH to look at the floor (unspecified time frame)

I have fitted VB semi air on my previous Adria Coral. It really is an easy job to do. I just backed it onto the quatro wheel ramps on the drive. It was an easy half day's work without the compressor

I used to do the same with a dinky bike pump. Doesn't take much time or effort. I just switched the pump between the left and right ports whilst watching a bullseye spirit level. It was just a bit more manual.

Just had a look at a you tube video and seems not to bad when weather is nice 🙂

It really is quite simple to do. Sunny day and a cup of coffee. Take your time as there is no rush. Especially when you get charged £500-600 and more to fit for What is half a days work.

Trouble is if you can't do it you have to pay up.

Do u have to inform your insurance company.
Again like the alloys it is a modification even though the VB semi air is VW approved for my van.
So I will have to call them

Wheels and air suspension around £4K or remove step🤔

If the van is pretty new and unladen looking at YT, there is plenty of space to take out the bump stops and slide the deflated air bags in.
