I think the OP is waiting to see if the cretin comes up with the goods before issuing a hue & cry Also I understand the cops are now involved so best not to mention that elsewhere just yet

Yes I see your point,I was just thinking of letting folks know, lets face it we all look at motorhomes on the road don`t we and especially if it`s a yank. well I do anyway

The other thing is, the longer it`s out there, there`s more chance of it disappearing altogether .

Wouldn't be surprised if it's in pieces by now, never to be seen again

The van will be abandoned as he knows he is on CCTV and his ID is known locally.
I am of the opinion that they know the games up and will either return it or abandon it.
Bits and bobs from this motorhome are no use apart it is much more valuable as a unit.

I'm sure it will turn up one way or another ANPR will have recorded it passing.
The person that has taken the vehicle has broken the law by having no ROAD TAX. All new owners must road tax the vehicle before driving off.

Sorry but whats the OP's use got to do with it, The OP owns the van and the cretin stole it end of.
I must say I do admire the OP's coolness under fire. As for me I'd be hunting the toerag down with bloody dogs if necessary and when caught he'd certainly feel 'my' pain
I DID say it's the principle of the thing, not the use.

Have you heard any more today ??????:(:(:(:(:(:(

Update... Went to the police station this afternoon spent 2 hours making a statement only to be told it still might be a civil matter ...like yesterday went to pub on way home to drown my sorrows, came home in 10 minutes door knocks mr conman on the step coplete with money, told him what i thought and that i had reported him to police ,phoned police back asked what i should do ,they said take the money and they would withdraw the complain tfrom rcord.I asked if it was ok to release the document they said yes because we had a verbal agreement. and those of you who spotted it on the m4 you certainly did he had already sold it someone in Ireland which is where it now.Thankyou all for support and god help the next Itinerant who knocks my door wanting to tarmac the drive.

Best outcome you might have expected I think. Much stress but you might have been left a lot more out of pocket.

Sit back and relax with a good malt!

All`s well that end`s well... (y)

Just a sodden shame you had to go through all that worry and hastle :( ..

That is good news think you should go to the pub again and celebrate

Really pleased it worked out in the end and will be even more pleased when that money is safely banked

What prompted him to bring the dosh?

And if he's paid it's not a con.

or am I missing summat ?

Sounds like the geezer had sold it already but couldn't pay for it until he got the cash, apart from the cheque that he knew would bounce. Very clever, or not. Sounds like he had a previous life as a banker, forward selling and all that.

I was wondering why the change of heart .. wish we could have been a fly on the wall back where he lives ... Maybe the police DID do something that you don't know about, Dave?

Yehhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh !

I wouldn't like your head tomorrow, have an extra one for me.

Glad it is sorted.

I feel your relief:D

Great result.

Good lesson for us all. (At your expense unfortunately).

I know you must be relieved at the outcome but the stress of the whole experience must have been incredibly wearing!

Delighted to hear it worked out OK.

Glad to hear it all worked out well in the end.
