Alko Chassis greasing

Lenny HB...£20 seems a bargain....or is that just for you ? I have my MH booked in to that place you gave me...Lancing to do the Handbrake but they can’t do it until 22nd July !...bit of an issue as I was hoping to get away much sooner...does the local garage you mention do Al-Ko Handbrake adjustment as well or just al-ko chassis greasing.

Have you tried Magic Motorhome Man based in Portsmouth. A mobile operation serving West Sussex and neighbouring areas. I believe he used to work for Premier motorhomes, Chichester.

You're listed as residing in the Winchester area but seem to remember you moved elsewhere to hide your identity from the authorities

Never used him but mobile businesses don't last long if they don't provide a good service.

Only takes them 10 min to grease the axle easy 20 quid.

Went to storage today and I do have a Fiat Jack with the towing eye so will use that I think to jack it up one side at a time just going to get a pair of 3t axle stands to put under while I am underneath. Thanks for all the suggestions...

Regarding grease, Alko recommend several expensive, difficult to get makes but so long as it’s an EP (extreme pressure) Lithium based grease it’ll be fine. I use Granville grease on ours and ‘outs better than nowt’

Throughout this thread reference has been made to the chassis but it isn’t the chassis that’s being maintained, rather it’s the torsion bar suspension (specific to the Alko chassis). So the answer to your question is no.

I think I would have gone for the High Performance version that is described as extreme pressure as it meets the Alko recommendation better.

Well it says for chassis and wheel bearings in the blurb so should be OK.

They did stop fitting them for a couple of years then went back to fitting them I wonder if they had a few axles fail.

The dealer i purchased it from and serviced and mot’d it for 3 years was always asked to grease axle and put on invoice it had been done.
It wasn’t until they had peed me off that I changed to another garage and asked them to grease axle and was told you ain’t got no nipples.

Just an update, finally got the van home and greased its nipples this morning, used the Fiat/ALKO jack one side at a time and put the axle stand under to support it. Once I managed to get the grease gun onto the nipple a few pumps of grease, takes about 10 minutes a side even with lifting the van once yo know what you are doing.

Hmm...I might have a go when I’m sorting out the handbrake...I’ve got a grease gun hanging about somewhere..

Yes, they made them for 2 or 3 years then went back to fitting nipples.
