Hi all
How long does it take for your Aldi heating system to make your van toasty.?

It seem to take an eternity to get our van nice and warm… The fluid reservoir is at the correct level and there seem to be no airlocks in the system… just for the record we have a 2020 Hymer B690

About 20 mins 7.4m coachbuilt
Thanks. We’ve not needed to use the heating yet as we live in Portugal…
But the temperature is now dropping and I don’t want to be cold whilst eating my Xmas dinner this year !,, might have to stay on site with a fan heater 🥶🥶🥶

I suppose it all depends on the ambient temperature in the first place but it’s not very long in the depths of winter, and it’s just a nice background heat that can be kept at a constant temp👍

What fuel are you using? If using ehu, it will take hours, best to start on gas/mix then use ehu to maintain heat, gas supplies 6kw, whereas at best ehu will only be 3kw.

Now then Wh05apk are you teaching me something here? I know you can mix gas and electric on the Truma, but I didn’t realise you can do it with the Alde, is this right??

We leave ours on so it’s ready to go ,hadit serviced at alde Northampton can’t fault it.from cold I would say about 1/2 an hour.

The van is new to us…. I’ve been unable to test the heating until recently because during the summer the internal temperature has been close to the maximum Aldi heating set point of 30’
Is the Aldi boiler heating more efficient on gas as apposed to 3 kw electric ?

Alde heating takes longer than blown air to heat up, but it is much better at maintaining the temperature once it gets there. It will be slower if you are just using electricity. Quicker using gas and even quicker if you use both.
Pete you answered my question before I posted lol. Thanks(y)

Hi Peter how do you set it to use the dual fuel?

Half an hour on EHU, 20mins on Gas only. Once up to temp (20degre) if on site switch over to EHU. Then be thankful you’re only paying a couple of quid for a fiver’s worth of electric.
We love the ALDI system over the Truma blown warm air system, but Christ does it gobble electricity. The other bonus with ALDI is you’ve always got plenty of hot water, excellent for when you’re both having a shower (no not together) we’re no longer in our youth you know🫢

How do you set it to use both??

Or am I going to have to RTFM🤣🤣🤣🤣
Just turn them both on and it sorts itself out, if you go into settings and "prio" I think, then that is a setting for fuel prioroty so you set gas or electric and when it gets up to temperature using both it will cut back to the specified one for background heat.

Ah yes I thought the prio would just do one or the other, I never realised you could set both the gas and electric on and it would use both, then return to the one prioritised in the settings!👍👍😁

The difference in how the vans are heated Truma with blown air, the Alde warms the walls then the heat is radiated out. As stated the electric will keep it ticking over but the gas or mix of both will speed up the process. If it’s really cold the electric on its own will struggle a bit. If you have ehu unlimited use both, if per kw use the gas only.

Great answer Wh05apk. ..
as you say It seems to take hours to heat up on ehu
I’m use to the Truma blown air system in my old Burstner .. which is instant with hot/cold spots..
Gas is the way now until comfortable temperature reached

Our 9m tag doesn’t get warm on electric and it takes forever on gas as well as eating gas 6kg in 24hr in the depths of winter. I fitted a diesel heater now

Aldi heating is designed to be like central heating in a home, it maintains a steady ambient temperature very well indeed and in my experience, does so equally well on both electric and gas.

If you want instant heat for short periods, a diesel heater is a sensible addition.

We have an additional two speed Truma fan running off the another heat exchanger to propel warm air into the front end of the moho👍 as well as the alde👍

I have two radiators in the bedroom but they are behind wood panels with only small outlets at the top, so very little convection, I’m looking to add fans

Sounds like you have a problem with it. Have you bled the system?

WESTY66 that fan heats off the front alde fins under the lounge floor, also works when the travel heat exxchanger is working. Helps keep cab area warmer but not to same temp as rest if van.

That’s the one, I didn’t want to say “radiator” as not to confuse with the other “radiators” around the moho!
Yes it’s not a full blown heater on it’s own per se but “every little helps”😉👍👍

I can’t remember what it looks like but that could be it, I’ll have a look tonight, but that box under the drivers seat (LHD) couple with the heat exchanger and alde system makes for one very cosy Carthago🤗🤗

Is it original fit.
I think it’s an extra! The paperwork from new states that my van has the “Alde Arctic pack” 🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️
Dunno if that’s the proper title or not🤷‍♂️ but it does get warm🤗🤗
