Alde unit tripping on EHU any ideas? Help!

The pump is usually mounted in front of the boiler.
It can usually be got at by removing a small panel at the bottom of the Tech Tower which, in our similar van, is held on by Velcro and just pulls off.

Richard.
That's good first hand experience Richard, ours is now next to the Alde boiler but the last van it was in the expansion tank, not sure but all of the modern stuff might be the stand alone pump now, I am sure there will be some access as you say.

I’ve done a reset on the panel for the umpteenth time and now it seems to be working (on gas which is good)
Glycol temps gone up from 54👍😊
Is there no current because I’m on hook up? I take it it will show current when disconnected, is that right?

Big thanks you lot👍

On my ancient Alde system, with slider controls, I can switch the pump onto continuous...I would then be able to 'touch feel' if the pump was working. If selecting hot water and heating together, the pump is controlled by the thermostat...if no heat I would suspect the thermostat or the pump. Check for fuses, and turn thermostat up to max to force pump on.

Are you on electric or gas priority? it should be mains current displayed but maybe it doesn't need electric at the moment if on gas priority, I don't even know if the current shows there as standard as we have the load monitor that measures current so do you need that? a question for somebody else I think.

You know me Martin, Elektrikery is not my thing😁
I had it on gas priority as I didn’t want to risk tripping the bollard with 1kwh selected as per factory reset, and was working when I left it, just walking round Dinkelsbühl now and we’ll see what happens when we get back as there was only 13p on the meter🤭

Update, here in Rothenburg, it’s all working on electric here so I really don’t know what the problem was🤷‍♂️
Only thing I can think of it was working ok on the pitch we were on but we were surrounded by p1keys so we blagged a pitch on the river front (Koblenz) and it was on that bollard that the alde was tripping out and I tried it on all 4 plugs, so who knows🤷‍♂️

In case you have further problems pick yourself up a cheap fan heater.
Oh sorry forgot you were a Yorkshire man, forget that.:giggle:
C’mon Lenny HB you know I’ve had to shell out on steel wheels, snow tyres and numerous covid tests that I didn’t need.(BUT it turns out that one of my brighter ideas was to take them unused fit to fly LFT kits with us and I’ve just emailed em and they say We can use them to get back!! RESULT👍) so my pockets are a little deeper and arms a little shorter than usual!!

I think, as it seems happy on gas, I would switch off the 240v elements and let it run on gas only.
It does get warmer on gas Richard, I’ll have alde give it a service when I get back and ask them to look at the 240v side of things👍

So after a toasty night Saturday came back from the day out to find out as soon as put alde on, it trips out the ehu, It doesn’t seem to work on gas either, the pump is circulating but no heat, and as it’s a Carthago I gather it’s a bugger to get to under etc tower, any ideas?
Ring me! You have a warranty lol

Worse case scenario I will call you Simon-Alan Kerr. If it’s a simple fix I can sort it. It’s working on gas at the moment, not very warm on 240v tho. We’ll see when we get home. But it’s reassuring to know that you’re there for us and will sort it if it’s broke, cheers. Means a lot to us👍

The gas burner is much more powerful than the 240v elements.
240v are 1kw and 2kw, separate elements, that can be combined to make 3kw.
From memory the gas burner is about 5kw.

Richard.

Ah thanks for that info, explains a lot👍

Nothing worse than a Winter shake down in a Country that is in a form of lock down. Good luck going forward. Get back safe.

Update! Well I think it could have been user error! I suddenly remembered I had a similar problem with alde on Elddis, so I went into the pump settings and it was on 240v setting, put it on 12v and gas and away it went. What made me suspicious was that the glycol temp was high and shutting the boiler down cos it wasn’t circulating, (but the pump was showing circulating🤷‍♂️) as soon as I switched to 12v the glycol temp came down rapidly to the ambient temperature and then started to climb as the boiler was doing it’s thing. I have tried it on 240v and all is good! Maybe the ehu bollard in Koblenz was faulty and threw me a curveball.
So I’m confident all is good but thank you all for your input, I was a little concerned over in Germany at -1 when it wasn’t functioning properly👍
