I'm a newbie had a wobbly box when adam was a lad
Hi all, away in the van over Xmas and NY 4 days in the heating lost fluid and went down to below min topped it up it was fine for about 3 days then did it again. Anyone had this had alde heating for years and never had any issues
Cheers

we used to on our N&B. Probably not 3 days, but it seemed like we were forever topping it up. I checked every pipe I could possibly see and still no joy, then suddenly it just didn't do it any more, I was told fluid burn off was common. They can leak but it is rare.

Ours leaked 2nd year we had it down on the southern tip of Spain (Vera), our's was caused by both the heating pipe and another pipe right next to it touching all the time. Eventually it wore a hole in the heating pipe and we lost all the fluid mainly in the back garage or thats where most of it ended up. It was a right pita as well, managed to get it sorted in Vera though so it didnt upset the holiday too much but it was just after i had the 5 year fluid put in by Alde themselves so that was a waste of money.
The location of where the pipe broke was inbetween the toilet and back garage with no real access to either unless you are a dwarf, how they managed to get in there i dont know as they went in between the double floor with no more room than a cat to fit in.

Sounds familiar, don't think it's a leak per se unless it's a very slow one

Thanks for that going to have a hunt around now I'm home in my 25 odd years as a service engineer I had very few call outs with Alde apart from fluid changes

Like you, we've had Alde for years in several caravans without any issues, on our "tick list" of wants when looking for a new van, it's right at the top.
Took the motorhome in for it's first hab service, advised the dealer that the header tank was empty and the floor under the boiler was swimming with glycol, they kindly topped it up but stopped short of looking for the leak :banghead:

Long story short, we're off over to Alde in Northants next week to have it looked at under warranty. I'll report back on the findings after the visit.

Interesting re burn off.....had ole Burtie in garage fer 3 months don't ask please.....and when finally back Alde tank was empty well it wasn't as it was below what you can see. Got the local newly qualified alde guy out . Bit like blind leading g blind tbh. Got it topped it up bled everything and run it up couple of times. No problem cash exchanged happy as.
Now call me paranoid, but daily checking of level and a slow loss. Phone call it will be fine I gets told Week later dropped more but then has stopped . Just waiting fluid to top it up.

Visit to the Alde HQ in Wellingborough this week, the guys there are super helpful and can't do enough for you. OK, mine was under warranty, but they bent over backwards to help, Overnight in their yard, free EHU, in the workshop first thing the following morning, Boiler out, repaired, complete fluid change and back on the road by lunchtime.

Excellent service.

That's good to know. May get there and get them to have a check over mine.

A couple on YouTube have had significant problems with an Alde heating system leak. Some research they have done indicates a possible cause which an American Alde user has researched. It may be worth looking at their vidoe and that contains in the desription the link to the American video.
