I’ve just set up insurance for our new van from August 6th.

I assumed, like my current campervan, that it would have a factory fitted alarm. Instead it just has a Cat2 immobiliser and a Cat5 tracker.

Is there generally a significant uplift on insurance policies if you don’t have an alarm?

Which reasonably priced alarms are suitable for Fiat Ducato’s?

Depends on the insurance company & value of the van.

Comfort wouldn't let us drive off the forecourt without alarm & tracker fitted.

NFU no alarm or tracker required and £300 cheaper.

Used them on my new Ducato, first class service and works like a charm,
Definitely recommend them,

Our dealer would fit an alarm for £599 but could not do it before we are due to pick it up.

We called the insurance company and they told us no alarm required if we have an immobiliser and tracker - which we have. So a saving there. We might look at some stand alone alarm options that don’t need professional fitting.

We did call the recommended insurance company, Ripe, but they would not insure us as it’s the only vehicle we own.

Having had a break in a couple of years back, they took two vehicles a Golf and a Transporter, they had the keys to the MoHo as well, but didn't take it however www.wattguardz.com fit warning lights on the exterior that flash red or Blue ( big thanks eddie)

I lay a wager they did not take the motorhome because it was armed...they didn't know what button to press and they didn't feel lucky, seriously if you value your new investment just go to Wattgaurdz. If your MoHo or any other vehicle gets nicked even if its not your fault you will feel the pain of increased premiums that continue for about 5 Years and that will more than pay for a wattzgaurds Alarm it is really is the best in the business.

Just to say put as many layers of security on as possible< Alarm, Tracker, immobiliser, Stop lock, Clutch Claw, ODB safe, wheel clamp and anything else you can think of. If you do they will nick someone else if not it may be yours (I know im being a cheerful charlie)

My guess is risk vs reward, higher chance of a tracker on a MoHo as I say press the wrong button and the Alarm will go off what would you do at 03;45 on a boxing day morning wake the neighbours up or take the low hanging fruit. They already had over £60K of vehicles plus a couple of items from the house Btards!

Wattsguardz if you want a bespoke alarm and immobiliser package. One thing I have seen mentioned about additional security such as steering wheel lock etc is not to tell insurers as if there was a claim it would be Sod’s Law that would be the one time you forgot to fit them.

Your not wrong when the loss adjuster came around it was like the spanish inquisition they even checked to see if I was telling the truth about reverse parking on the drive they checked this out by looking at Google.

All keys are now kept in a safe at night with one sacrificial set left out
