We thinking of driving through France starting from the middle of April for 3 - 4 weeks and are wondering what it will be like finding spaces in the aires, anybody got any experience at this time of year.

We never had any problems during school holidays when our daughter was with us, she’s 27 now so a few years since we’ve done school holidays.

The Easter weekend will be busy if you’re in a tourist area but as long as you’re not intending on rocking up late afternoon at a popular spot you should be fine. Note that most of the shops, certainly the supermarkets, will be closed or have restricted opening hours over the Easter weekend.

I’m going over next Wednesday and have booked the Easter weekend in a campsite to be safe as it’s on the Cote D’Azur so I expect will be busy.

We went to France last year in August. I took the view that while the campsites with children’s facilities would be rammed, the aires really wouldn’t be much different, as a lot of Motorhomers are of an age that they would never go there during school holidays.

My hunch paid off and the Aires were no different to normal.
