thanks

thanks for all the info, I’m going to purchase the 12v one from DC Conversions, that way my existing set will cope and no need for further expense,

We have the Dometic Freshjet 1700 built for a 6m van but it still works well in 7.5m. The Freshjet has low start up so doesn't strain the amps like the Truma Aventa does. Currently on a French site with 10amp hook up, no problems using it with the fridge on hook up and the water on 50/50 gas & 230v. The heating warms the van far quicker than the Whale Heat Air. We also have the Dometic DC kit which includes it's own inverter for 12v use.

Hello, we have a brand new Dometic Freshjet 2200 Air Con unit for sale. We bought it to go onto our last caravan but ended up buying another motorhome with air con already fitted. We will be putting it on the For Sale section this week. Great bit of kit. It cost £1675.00. We are asking for £1000.00 for it.

Thank you, just seen them, they still roof mount like the fresh jet. I’m yet to find that one the guy got it from China, under mount out of the sun. His consumption fingers where impressive.

Got a Truma Aventa Comfort with 2000w inverter and a 150w solar.

On a very sunny day, the aircon, on low, will last a bit less than an hour before the battery drops to the level where it can be recharged without problem.
If you want aircon, plug it in to the EHU.

truma aventa comfort only requires 4.2 amps to power it , ive used ours on 6 amp sites without any issues

Well I’m glad asked , so operating it from my set up is out of the Question, 2 lead 130a batteries and 200w solar panels which for the telly and other bits does me fine , I assume if hooked up on sites here and Europe the Unit would work ?
we have the domectic fresh light air con with 200ah lithium, 300 watt solar, victron multi plus.
the maximum time we can have the air con on for is about 2 hours on medium and by then i am looking at the app usage - just not worth it without EHU

The Truma unit i just googled was 2400 watts. (2.4kw)..
So that over 10 amps on mains EHU and 125+ amps on 12v.. !!!
Not saying you cant do it via an inverter but would most likely cost more than the AC unit. Lithium batteries, solar, DC charger, large inverter etc.

Another factor is the noise, seen many posts where people cant sleep because of the heat, then fit AC and can sleep because of the noise

But no mention of the power consumption when just using the fan in ventilation mode. I’ve found that by having it in that setting, along with the lower Truma blown air in a similar manner, it gives a good level of comfort in all but the hottest weather. That’s why I’m looking to run it from an inverter, not in the full cooling setting.

Its a fair question. I've never tested ours on just 'vent'.
We don't use vent. We put it on on low/cold, all night. The faint hum doesn't keep us awake, whereas the heat often does. I've stood outside and can barely hear it, so I know we don't disturb other folk.

Apart from electrical demand, there is also the weight penalty. MaxAir fans have had good reports and are reputed to be almost as good an t less cost and weight.

Thanks to Ditcha for the answer on another aircon thread:

“We run our Truma Aventa compact when off grid, using just vent on low fan it uses 4amps climbing to 9amps on full fan if you use the compressor for cooling it uses about 45amps which in sperts is manageable once the batteries are full with solar it's free.”

Looks to be perfectly feasible to run the unit on vent from the Han batteries, so my next job is to install a decent inverter.

We have the Truma Aventa and in 31 degrees of heat in the south of France. The aircon work’s lovely and has a night setting so a bit quieter but still a fan noise. A bit of a trade off I suppose.
