Aggrieved on a cl

This year the so called “Staycation” many of us are stuck with has seen price rises right across the board. £15 pupn for very basic CL/CS sites with little amenities and using ones own onboard facilities seems the norm at the moment. Being a cynic once things do open up and continental travel is allowed prices will not drop. 😟😟😟

.Only for commercial not personal cards I believe
No. Taxed my motorbike last week Same then

Since 13th January 2018 the DVLA has stopped charging for using a consumer credit card when purchasing vehicle tax. However, customers paying by a commercial credit card will continue to be charged a £2.50 processing fee as set in legislation (SI 2017 No. 1239). There is no charge for the use of any debit cards.

What's the difference? Is that a company's credit card?

Excellent were off thread but that took a while

Who stays on a £20 CL, let alone one that wants to charge £30  ?

Full facility CAMC sites cost less than that.
Got stuck there in lockdown so had no choice - ended up there for months and nearly bankrupt now 😟

Surely a staycation the price is the same week in week out as one never actually leaves home.

Very true. Someone took an American term for holidaying at home and changed the meaning to not going to another country. Probably some journalist too lazy to come up with a new term.

the Americans have been messing with the English language for decades including pronunciation and spelling perhaps its an attempt the reclaim English

Principal- pure and simple. Not about the extra few quid.
Funnily enough we pulled onto a CL advertised at £18 a few nights ago. Once sited I went to pay and was greeted with a request for either £20 cash or £21 card !!
Maybe it’s a growing trend !

Im with you on this one.
It’s the principle of it.

In reverse I wonder if those that say it’s petty would be the same if they agreed a price on selling something and then the buyer knocked them down by 20 or 30 quid for a cheapish item 🤔😊

Or even better, we are aware of the housing market going mad at present a house that was advertised at one price, then went 'under offer' for a few days and has now popped back up on the internet as ' reduced' to £20.000 more than the original listing. Work that one out
I was asked would I be reconsidering the property, doh NO.

It’s the principle and the cheek of seeing the van and then upping the price !
If you booked at a price that’s the contract!

Agree with you, contracted for £15.00, plus you don’t need any comments.
Why did you not dry at the laundry?
If you are on a CL and it’s dry, why are you drying inside, and putting moisture inside your van?
As for putting heat inside a van you are about to sleep in?
Another thing why do you need EHU in the summer?
I do also agree with you about the price, irrespective of affordability.
I think for the sake of£3 I would just shrug my shoulders and pay. Little cls often aren't very organised the last one we were on had a higher rate if you were only staying one night which we were but charged us the lower one some you win some you lose. Overall they aren't going to become millionaires on the cl income.

How very true. To put it into context it’s less than a high street coffee. Yet it’s still £3 😄😄😄 (born in Yorkshire with Scottish grandparents)

We're skint but it wouldn't bother us in the slitest..
Just be glad to be out and about.

I agree with you, up to a point. I think the way the CL charged extra, and especially (from the OP anyway) only upon seeing their flashy Morello, is really not on at all.
As for the deliberate wasting of electricity to "spite" the owner, I don't really think that's on either. All they'll do is increase the charge for future visitors if they feel their current prices aren't sustainable for them.

You will glad to know that all the laundry is dry and the heating is set back to the normal level. I do believe the cl owner didn’t gain from his mercurial attitude, he’s happy as he thinks he pulled a fast one and I’m happy that our laundry is all dry.
