Hi, I put some water and pink chem into our toilet bowl (thank god I didn’t fill it) and it seems to have poured right through with a little puddle inside the van too. I removed the fascia where you pour stuff in but couldn’t really see anything. I can hear the pump working when I try to flush but there’s obviously nothing left in the tank. The van hasn’t been used much over the last year and wondering if something has become clogged. Any help/advice much appreciated, I’ve attached some pics.

Why not buy a refresh kit which gives you a brand new cassette and a new toilet seat - ideal when buying a secondhand van. You can then refurbish the existing cassette with a new seal and give it a good clean. You then have two cassettes, one in use in the van and the other primed and ready for when the other is full and someone is desperate to use the toilet before anyone is dressed and ready to empty the full one! Just keep it in the garage primed ready and waiting with Elsan and some water! Also ideal if you wild and need to store a full cassette until you can find a proper dump to empty it!

I also echo all the comments about your leak from the bowl down into the area where the cassette goes. This is all down to the worn black rubber seal on the top of the cassette unit. I take it that the top plastic slide is not missing from the top of the cassette.
That’s what I did but it was the start of my leakage problem. Apparently the new cassette (with wheels) can be slightly shallower thus not sealing efficiently.

great advice above about the seal, take it out, wash it and then soak in hot water to soften. Finish off by lubricating with silicon spray

Leaks are quickly and hygienically cleaned up with a handful of cat litter. I keep a small bag in a locker just in case

What is the second picture as it looks like where the screws go the mounts are broken and could be the problem as they will not tighten.🤔
whatever it is it looks pretty grotty.
The 2nd pic of the original post?
That’s the external filler point for the toilet flush. The 3rd pic is a close up of the same.
Except for some minor differences, our MH has the same setup.

Edit: grammar.

Sounds like flushing valve is stuck open and cassette not in position when filling flush tank?🤔

Ahhh. That makes more sense. (Mine doesn’t have separate tank). So OP must be talking about flush tank emptying on it’s own, rather than when the toilet is flushed. Which possibly has been answered earlier in post with missing cap!

I agree. It is odd. The words aren’t fully matching the pics.
More later from the OP 👍🏻

edit: if just the “bowl” word was switched to “flush reservoir” then all words & pic lineup🤔
Perhaps because the newbie OP does not know what they are called.
Having looked at the pic that@kevenh posted in #17 and assuming that the tube shown is the drain from the flush tank I would put my money on the bung not being in place and thus the cause of the leak.
Possibly ... it's a bit of a guessing game!

There would be if that is the filling point for the flush tank, that's where the pink stuff goes.
Yes I know, I amended my reply accordingly after reading other comments from those who have the same type of loo ...

If it was explained and simple, what we do. It would be boring wouldn’t it 😂😂😂😂

Thanks for all your comments guys:) apologies just getting back on here, we managed to get away and have been up north with little reception.
kevenh - you were right, I didn’t discover what it was until the following morning (when it wasn’t dark and I could actually see), at which point the missus and I just looked at each other and burst out laughing. It’s all been cleaned with seal being silicone sprayed and of course bung has been put back in lol

On another note;
we’re just outside Inverness for the night and have ran out of propane. I changed the bottle just last night, so believe there might be a leak in the pipe somewhere beside the cylinder. Can anyone recommend somewhere in Inverness that could help source the leak/supply another bottle in the morning?
Thanks👍🏻

That bung was the scene of one of my newbie mistakes.

I had a very good idea what the bung was for but verified it AFTER putting in most of the 7.2Lt of water the reservoir takes.

It's easy to remove the bung but with water rapidly exiting, refitting it is a little more difficult.
At least my theory was proved :o

My problem started when I bought a new cassette! Someone mentioned building up the height of the cassette by putting shims of plastic underneath.
I have heard of this before, just build it up a bit to make it seal
