Been told that I can go to 3950kg but axle weights will stay the same so the question is should I go ahead with it , am 3500kg ATM, at last weigh I was 2000 on back and 1560 on front no water but full fuel tank, if I go ahead I can't move any weight from back to front to balance out as not got any spare storage up front , so over to you .Thanks

One thing to remember is if you uprate and sign on to bip and go all your information is then on French computers and you automatically get charged class 3.on autoroute as you are.then classed as hgv also have speed limits apply
Sign up first, then upstate 🤭

I’ll stick with 3500 kg on my Bailey 75-2. When I renewed driving licence at 70 decided to downgrade and avoid medical & opticians report to maintain 7.5t entitlement. Just not worth the hassle.

We upplated and still class 2 in France, you more likely to get charged class 3 if you over 3m high or tag axle.
You actually go in to the phgv class in uk, thats why you only need a normal mot.

I uprated my Bailey to 4,000 with 2240 at rear. Delighted with service from Dee at VWE. Held my hand, as it were, and great service. Needed rear air, replacing 15 inch with 16 inch, so new alloy wheels and tyres. Now rides infinitely better, and no danger of overloading rear axle (which I found was almost always, at its limit formerly of 2000 kg despite prev max being 3850...)

I have my French tag from emovis via a Eurotunnel deal. It is not linked to any registration number plate. We always show as class 2.

Adria Compact here registered new as 3650kg despite being physically identical to the 3500kg version - it’s an F.O.C paper exercise factory option. Papers now in with DVLA for up plating to 4250kg (only required rear air) and our Fulli account has only ever charged us as class 2.

I was in exactly the same position as you and updated to 3950kgs, as the few extra kgs were important to me. Already had the license so no hassle for me 👍🏻

Haven’t read the thread, it’s Sunday and just wanted to tell you that I have completed it 👍🏻

I've considered up- plating but what about all those French towns with the 3.5t sign? I guess if you up-plate, you always have to find a way around the outside?

I was surprised when I got a new tag from Fulli recently that they ask for your reg number. But they don't appear to check anything with DVLA because our 4.25t MH still gets charged class 2 (we're single axle, under 3m).

Yes pressure can go from 80 to 99psi in my RV. But why would you fit to an airbag that is kind of built to flex and absorb bumps by collecting the jolt as a pressure change?
Because I'm a curious kind of person and I like to know things, don't you ?

But seeing as you have thrown your hat into the ring... given that the best motorhome tyres are only rated to 80psi, and you know you go to 99psi. Don't you want to know why your tyres don't go kaboom ? YET ?

You can change the reg number if you want to use a different vehicle - we swap between car and van, I guess that's why they don't check with DVLA, TMI! Unless there's a problem, then I guess they might.

19.5" Truck tyres on an RV. Typically 80psi cold.
