Just got my renewal quote via Performance Direct but it's up a fair bit for no obvious reason. So looking around found a better deal through a new broker called Adrian Flux...anyone heard of them used them and are they ok?

I can only speak of my own experience, took a policy out at a favourable premium, until I received the policy.
In fact my error in not asking for policy documents before agreeing cover.
Very restrictive cover, windscreen inadequate, excess unrealistic, etc etc. I continued for the policy term and placed the business elsewhere.
I would have said to myself, if the premium is lower than the market norm something has to give!
I regret to say you only get what you pay for.

I was insured through them for my car, actual insurer was (Markerstudy). Terrible experience with them.

We are squeaky clean drivers, no points, convictions, good postcode, own driveway etc.

But We have just insured an imported car with them (little choice). First quote was £720, told them no. Wife rang up with 20+ no claims, they told her £1,000. So she said no. They rang back that afternoon and said £550 Odd that
Isn’t that the point though they are Brokers not underwriters. Brokers have standard policies and occasionally will contact underwriters to discuss or speak individual cases that cannot always be done immediately on the phone 📞 on the claims front it is often outsourced to a 3rd party. Not saying any of this gives great customer satisfaction.

Maybe maybe not, I’m not going to defend any broker but most savvy customers ring around and when these guys came up with a similar policy saving me around £2,300 can’t say they were overcharging compared to the renewal of £3500 up from £450 post theft of other vehicles from my property.

They re hardly new, they ve been around a long time. They tend to win with items that are not mainstream because they charge heavily for it. Ive got one of my motorcycles with them because its a US model although it has the sae engine and frame as the UK version the model doesnt appear on the lists.

You do have to check the small print though. I was annoyed when we went for a classic car policy and offered up my full NCB. They said it wasnt required but omitted to tell us that after 3 years it would be lost.

There are lots of other insurers out there: AIB, Saga, NFU etc etc, they mostly have their pluses and minuses. I would make a list of your requirements - Territorial limits, Windscreen cover, special conditions, requirements for approved alarms etc and troll through until you find a policy that does what you want.

Not impressed when we made a claim when our classic vw was written off by a falling tree.Sell themselves as specialists but no clue and I spent months proving its value was actually double their initial offer.Avoid
Like most Brokers the claims are outsourced to a company that specialises in claims. So maybe people should blame either an underwriter or the claims company <Broken link removed>

Perfectly valid point but I have no control over who they out source to, my contractual arrangement is with AF and my feedback and view on them is based on my overall experience with them as an entity.

Of course totally understand that but AF are equally upfront about who they outsource to and you may find your current insurance is with the same claim handeling company. Many underwriters want people to use thier preffered repair shop rather than a main dealer. I am not arguing for AF or any other broker but I think the industry has us all over a barrel!

That is very true and that from an industry which at face value provides loads of choice and appears a competitive market. Most of it the same product rebadged and sold by intermediaries acting as post boxes

Someone has to pay for heating the building then 😉
