Adria Twin SGX picked up!

Cool, thanks. Spent 30 mins looking round one in Preston but you always think of the questions after you have left and there are times an answer from an owner is more valuable than a dealers response.

We've just done a couple of short breaks- Cambridge, Suffolk and Dorset. On each campsite the van attracted some attention- mainly due to the colour. Quite a few wanted to look inside it (and a couple asked what it cost!). Ours is the version before the "skyview" roof, and it's the 600 rather than the 640- so we haven't got the really clever bathroom nor the electric bed. Having said that, the owners of coachbuilts all liked the size, the fixed double bed, were happy with the shower/toilet/sink arrangement but a couple were less happy about the loss of a "nice" sitting area. Everyone was surprised/impressed at the quality of fittings (it's the Black and grey "Titan" finish with black leather seats; looks quite modern/slick and 1 person would have preferred something "more homely"- but that's a matter of taste). There's a table and the front seats turn round etc. So far though, we've always eaten outside so it hasn't been an issue. I wouldnt swap the seating at the expense of the permanent, double, really comfy bed! I still find it big to drive (compared to the go-kartlike Alfa) and I'm still not that confident in cramped-speace carparks- but I'm guessing that Motorhome owners would take that easily in their stride. Absolutely no issues so far (just over a year) with reliability - both mechanical and internal stuff like fridge, cooker etc etc). We absolutely love it and have no regrets about the choice whatsoever- especially the colour... although 1 person thought that the matching orange chairs, orange OlPro windbreak, orange mugs and orange espresso jug was pretentious. My reply was to bemoan the fact that I couldnt find an orange Cadac.
Shows how we are all different,,Making beds up to me is a small price to keep a decent lounge and large kitchen..2 mins at night to make 3 mins in a morning to put away..BUSBY.

Thanks for all your answers, very much appreciated.

One more question though......... has anyone installed an oven or convection microwave in their Adria Twin?

The only place I can think it could go is in the cupboard above the fridge. Could anyone give me the internal dimensions - width, height and depth so that I can research convection microwaves?

Thanks all.

Appreciated however I need the space under the bed for a couple of folding electric bikes.

Is that the Russian version of a Remoska?

some might say...why buy a small van and then have to strap stuff on the rear like bikes and storage boxes...at the ferry port, even a 5.5m van becomes 6.5m for pricing with all that gubbins on the back.
i, for one, am happy with a small-ish van (under 6.5m) but one that has decent, proper integrated storage where full sized bikes can live under a full sized garage that supports a full sized, proper bed....kit kept warm and dry whatever the weather.
these things count for much more than a large lounge as we are generally in places where its warm and sunny and just dont want to be inside the van.
a small kitchen might have less worktop than some, but actual accessible storage, via decent sized drawers, is far more useful than the hopeless storage in some larger 'designs'.
we even have a Thetford Duplex oven in ours, shock horror...
we often camp away from civilisation and ehu so a nice gas oven is useful, we have other cupboards without having to resort to the oven.....whatever next, youll be telling me next that use the shower as a wardrobe?
if i had four friends hanging round us every night in a damp uk site i might consider a larger lounge.....or not....
a decent nights sleep in a proper bed and space/payload to carry all our kit for a 3 month tour is at the top of our list.
a small van with a large lounge (but little/no storage) can be made to work in A class form, with a decent drop down bed up front.
the Symbol is a nice day van, but has very limited storage, no proper bed so could never work for us as a 'touring motorhome'.
the Twin 600SP is pretty close to ours in layout and, if we were looking for a Van Conversion it would be well to the top of the list, a great van.

I have plenty of storage thanks that is safe and dry ..Only things outside are bikes and Isabella folding chairs,,in a waterproof bag of course.Three interior large drawers for clothes plus attic over the cab..You like yours and we like ours so don't know where your coming from😁😁

not 'coming from'anywhere....
it was you that introduced your van into an Adria PVC thread, telling us we are all different....
yes we are....ive just told you why.....just as you did...
our layout is similar to whats being discussed so seemed relevant....certainly more so than a non fixed bed UK van.

Love that description! :giggle:

It's a shame that Globecar stopped making the Familyscout L at 6.36m - transverse double and L shaped lounge ... it was a great van but for us didn't quite work as we decided after a while we wanted individual beds which were easier to get in/out of, hence our going for the Campscout with twin singles (and now the Carthago with 2 separate double beds).

I apologise for entering an Adria thread, sure Minxy Girl will be along later to do likewise..Didn't realise you had to adhere to the lead thread. BUSBY😁

Enjoying this thread, we are all different.
To be honest I really miss our 2005 Murvi Morello, never seen so much space in a 5.59 metre van when the bed isn't made up. Wonderful design BUT When it's made up though and 2 people get up at different times it's terrible layout.

I like the Adria rear transverse bed as you can still sit in the lounge when the other is in bed.

Already guilty m'lud!

The Adria SGX interests me due to its long bed (I am 6' 2")
Can anyone (tall) confirm what the internal head height is?
The specification states 1900 mm but I assume this is the max and does not take into account projections for rooflights etc.

The SGX was very much on our shortlist - I was very tempted by the electric bed and the flexibility it gave to the garage space.
In the end we went down the SLB route for the extra payload - the SLB has around 110Kg more, but both are very good vans IMHO

What's the difference between the models, is the supreme the best specced one?

The equipment levels are either Supreme or Plus I think .....the letters (SLB etc) denote the different layouts. Supreme is the top one and important as you get the "skyroof". There are equipment packs on top of this as well.

Main difference between SGX and SLB is the SGX has (or had when I was looking), an electric bed that you could lift to make the garage space much larger. It also had a metal floor with tie down points so you could transport a moped/motorbike. The compromise is a payload of under 500Kg before any options fitted

Our SLB has a fixed bed but theres room under it for up to 3 normal pedal bikes (front wheels removed), which is our chosen method for getting about. The bed in the SLB can be lifted and the two halves stowed in the vertical position if you need to carry something taller though.

Hello all,

I have been in contact with Adria regarding the SGX and payload.
The 2021 SGX will be available with uprated chassis to 4000kg , therefore greatly increasing the payload.
The downside to this is C1 license etc.
Costs are increased also, the uprated chassis can only be purchased with the 180bhp engine, this comes in at an additional £4200.

Makes sense for them to do that 👍 .. also worth bearing in mind possible impact on residual values as well - I suspect most PVC buyers are not expecting the C1 requirement and it may put some off ..
