Adria Supersonic 890

2018
Hello. We will soon be taking delivery of a new Adria Supersonic 890, we can't wait!!. We are trading our Swift Kontiki 650. It would be good to learn people's experience of the Adria and anything to look out for? Thanks

I do agree. It’s not like they don’t know of the problem. To be honest I thought the dealers would just change them when first pointed out.
The vans themselves are great and really look great. I’ve been thinking of changing vans but I took this last night and when I see what we have I don’t see anything that looks great and has the quality. Apart from the water fittings. But they are accessible so I’ll do them myself this winter and carry a spare

Ha ! Ha ! Always a rush get on our Hols Fragle 😎 Only 70+ on a motorway, as van designed to do 80mph max and we only 3,500kg so we licenced to do speed limits, unlike some heavier class, and I pay more road tax than them, so why not keep up with the traffic 🤷‍♂️

We will shortly be up plating our Adria Compact to 4250kg but will still be able to run at the higher (car) speed limits in the U.K. as it’s down to the unladen weight - which isn’t stated but can be calculated from the CoC MIRO. Also pay the reduced PHGV RFL, so a win, win.

Cool how easy is it to up plate a 3,500kg like your's as dealer paid 1st year Tax/Registration and not looking forward to taxing it in January.

We‘ve had our 890lc since April. Decent build quality and definitely less squeaks and rattles when driving than our previous ‘19 matrix 670sl. From our experience being able to use for two weeks since we collected it. The domestic fridge is better than the previous Matrix thetford. The shower is great, the water pump is very quiet, the soft closing cupboards are a big improvement.

Our initial short trip revealed some niggling issues. Most of these were repaired or replaced within 2 months without issue.
The Adria control panel rotary switch was intermittent.
The Spice rack cupboard locking mechanism was faulty resulting in damage to the sliding rails.
The rear passenger seatbelt was cut when opening / closing the sliding mechanism.

The front blind is operated by 2 separate motors with no manual over ride if there is a problem. Fortunately, ours failed after opening the blind to start our journey home on the first trip. If it had failed closed then the only way to open them is cut the cords and tie them up. Our dealer was able to swap the function using only one motor so we could open and close the lower section of the blind. Adria seem to be struggling with spare parts for these. 4 1/2 month wait so far.

The fridge drain does not go through the double floor. It runs out of the bottom of the vent then down the paintwork. The dealer is looking at changing this before the paint is permanently marked then hopefully Adria will change the Design for other new owners.

We had only driven about 900km then the Mercedes faults started. Intermittent blacked out drivers instrument clusters. Then no rear camera and an intermittent parking brake failure warning. Not really ideal having to use a phones GPS to see you speed and not being able to see or hear any warning lights.
There’s now 1500 km on the clocks with the last 500km being multiple trips back and forth to Adria and Mercedes to troubleshoot the faults. Apparently Mercedes think it’s Adria‘s tie in to the Mercedes systems after finding 1 loose connection. Due to this, it’s not covered by the Mercedes warranty so the labour for the Mercedes tech was charged. If you search for sprinter faults you will see all 3 of these are common but they are not acknowledged by Mercedes in europe. Only the Mercedes dealers in the USA have this listed and officially recorded as Mercedes faults.

Once the teething issues are finally sorted, it’ll be a great motorhome for our touring. I’m looking forward to being able to use it some more someday.

Watch for the habitation door rubbing the paint off the lower frame too.

Hi Adrian
We’re on our 2nd Adria albeit both Coachbuilt Matrix on a Ducato. Generally well built, the only real issues have been quite a few leaks on the plumbing, all down to the Reich fittings. I’ve replaced c50% of them to date with John Guest fittings.
Our 1st was the SL model with single beds over the garage, the current one is the DC with large island bed which can be raised electronically so you don’t loose any garage space. Having said that we can still get both electric bikes in without having to raise the bed. We have EP self levelling on the current one, wouldn’t be with out it now.
We have just changed our Adria Coral, Axess 670sl, for an A-class, Hymer.
The Adria has been a fine van. As Above, we has problems with joints on the water system. Also, with the waste traps in the washroom and shower, when we left the pinned drain plugs in over winter and they seized solid cracking the traps when we removed them. Also, all the barrels on the garage door locks failed. You could open them with any key that woujd go into the hole after about a year of use. Considering what troubles we have had with some caravans in the past, these niggles were noting in comparison. We would certainly look at Adria again in the future.
Good luck with the collection, and happy travels.

Hi. We have collected ours now and we love it. Can I just ask you, do you know how I adjust the small blind spot wing mirrors please? I can't work it out and dealer seems to be struggling with an answer. I can adjust the big mirrors just not the small ones. Thanks

Hi Adrian
How are you going on with your delivery
We have ordered a 780sl in may we was told delivery June/ July then august
Then on it’s way commencing 16 august
Left it for two weeks then rang supplier who then said factory closes for 1 month in august?
Been back on to them again last Friday asking for delivery date and they now say there waiting for a reply from adria to see what the problem is, it is showing built on computer
Also they say there’s no extras but ours is coming with the new self levelling and weighing system which is a great addition and costing 8 k more and also saves us time due to us not having to take it somewhere to have fitted

We collected Friday and it went perfect. The new van is awesome and could not be happier. We opted for the self levelling which on ours was only 1 of 3 options, its worth every penny.

Good to hear that
Does it do as it says weighs you total load
What was the other 2 options

Not found the weigh function yet but the self levelling element works great. Other options was coffee machine and leather colour.
Oh ok I think ours was in production when we ordered
I’m not sure now of the coffee machine is included
Wouldn’t you think they would of thrown it in with the price as we didn’t order the levelling system they said it was in the price still 8k over others at 160k
I was considering the 890 but I think it would of stressed me out driving it due to length

You would think so. No microwave either lol. I'm used to 9m tag so no issues, it's very easy to drive

Sooner you than me
We are planning to go over France Spain Portugal then Morocco then make our way back hoping to go dec/Jan just to get away from our winters can’t wait
We had a Vw McLaren before so it’s a big difference for us
After doing 9 weeks earlier this year with 2 yorkies
We decided to go for something larger just hoping we haven’t made a wrong decision
Everyone we spoke to about upgrading told us to think twice
