Adria overhead locker catches

whether the struts are too strong
I cant see it being the struts.
When the door is closed the struts put very little force into the catch.
I would guess that it is an alignment problem between the catch and the ball.
As I mentioned above, we also have these catches and have had no failures to date.
One or two of them are a bit sticky at times so I have bought a few spares at £2 each, but have not yet used them.

Likewise, I can’t see the struts having any effect on the locking or unlocking of the catch - other than the ‘assist’ after it’s released. The locking of the ball by the jaws of the catch is very positive if the alignment is correct. It’s a shame that there appears to be a potential weak spot with the rear pin location that should/could be easily solved at the point of manufacture.

Our 11 month old Compact has a catch that has failed on one of the lower drawers in the kitchen. It has been poorly fitted and is not holding properly. It was really annoying on our recent trip to France, we were on a very bendy road with no opportunity to pull over and put something in place to stop it banging open and closed. OH has carried out a temporary fix by moving the catch so it lines up better, and discovered that it has already been fitted twice at factory.
The overhead lockers in a previous Adria had the same plastic catches and as my OH is a retired aircraft engineer he made a jig and manufactured replacements out of metal. Fortunately he still has the jig in the garage and will again be making replacements.
Perhaps I'll have to tell him to get out of retirement and fill a need in the market.
I spy a cottage industry in the making🥴as an aside we have different catches on our Adria, grey with 2 spring loaded buttons, I assum they apply a small amount of force against the door when closed to reduce any rattles. It’s a 2019 model 670 DC

I have had the same issue with these catches on my Twin. I worked out that the door vibrated slightly when going down the road and it was enough to spring the catch open. Solved by putting a small 1 cm strip of self adhesive foam window insulating on the cabinet edge. This stops any movement going along and has the added benefit of stopping a squeak I had given up finding. No squeak and doors stay closed, result.
Thanks for that solution, been driving me nuts! have tried it myself (same van..) and have done a long run today and not a single locker opened and hardly a rattle in The van
