We are still looking for and looking at our first motorhome. Have just come across Adria and Carado brands, does any one have experience of either of these. If so would you please share your thoughts?

The Carado are good.
I used to work at Travelworld as a Tech everyone on the shop floor thought they were good vans.
Thank you Machzoneman, we are visiting there on Thursday. How do they compare to Hymer and Dethleffs given the pricing?

Bought our first motorhome in 2014 after our first mh experience when we rented a 2 berth Maui in NZ. It’s a 2005 Adria Coral 680SL, they say you are lucky to find your ideal layout with your first purchase and we have been very lucky. We really like the U-shaped lounge and feeling of space and light.
Thanks Houdini, another positive post

I used to work at the Telford site. I've not been to the new Stafford Site. I've owned classic Hymers, a Burstner T-Star 710, My present van is a Dethleffs Globebus.
Just remember that when You visit a Dealer Showroom 'any' van on display will have been polished up by a team of valeters to look it's very best.
I have only ever bought privately as I prefer to buy a bargain and cut the middle man out of the loop.
Carado's are good van's, Hymers are good, Dethleffs { the one I bought is good }.
I had a towbar fitted to My van and tow a trailer.
I saw My van on ebay, caught the train to Miltonkeynes had 2 hours checking it over and drove it home again.
My van cost under 17K with a book price of around 20K.
Condition, accessories, mileage etc all affect the value.
I nearly bought a big 6 berth Coral 12 months ago at a Dealership that I was working at but upon inspection the 2006 Ducato cab had been welded and that put Me off.
You are in a good position and don't own one yet so can buy any van that You like.
Look at any damp report carefully it's always worth buying a damp tester yourself or at least looking all over the van for signs of damp. before parting with money.

Some good advice Machzoneman, especially about the showroom shine. My sister always says only ever look at mh outside. Not sure I am confident enough to buy privately though!

We bought an Adria Matrix Supreme 670dc great layout with loads of add on's through the inclusion of 2 luxury packs. Go to the NEC show this month. Adria are always there doing some deals. Have a chat with the guys from Signature near Preston. They will undercut everyone if you lean on them, and give you add on's like upgraded 150bhp and automatic gearbox. Be aware that the Adria stand comprises of different dealers. Adria have won awards for Customer Satisfaction in Uk. I've had mine now for 12 months and love it , only negative is low payload but you have two options ….re plating or stop taking junk with you.

Thanks Parrot Face, we do plan to go to the show. Did you use Signature as your dealer, if so have they been ok with you, after sales good etc.

Carado are to Hymer like Sunlight are to Dethleffs both made in the same factory in Dresden. Low cost basic vans built by the Hymer group. Built on the standard Fiat chassis cab rather than the Camping chassis or Al-Ko chassis. Furnishings tend to be on the basic side.

There is a Dealer for PLA and Giottiline Italian built Coachbuilt Motorhomes in Congleton, Cheshire.
He sells them and rents them out.
He has around 30 of them and a small rural campsite as well @ £10ish a night.
Hire or buy.
Uk Concessionaire for the range of vans.
I was the General Manager there for a month or two a while ago.
New and Nearly New Peugeot Boxer based Motorhomes.

We've just put a deposit down on a new van yesterday and as we owned an Adria Matrix in the past thought we'd consider them again. Have a look at my thread choices for new van, although we loved our 2010 matrix and kept it for 4 years I personally don't think the new ones are as good on first inspection. The vans look good visually but make sure you dig deeper, we looked in a Sonic and have to say it looked like a different manufacturer.

I've had no probs with Signature. Basically I found a 2018 model reduced over at Becks Norfolk, I live in NW . I thought it was a good price. Contacted signature to see if they would do any warranty work, they said they would but asked why I wasn't using them. They then offered me the same vehicle but the 2019 model at the same price and with the same 38k trade in for mine. Told them I was interested and we were going ahead with the deal and then I saw them at the NEC they showed me the vehicle they were getting me but I told them they were supposed to be getting me leather seats. They agreed and said they would find me such a vehicle. Then I noticed the amazing deal Adria were offering at the NEC which included and upgrade to 150bhp, automatic geabox, two comfort packs, spare wheel etc. and the much better DC model. Surprisingly they rung me the same day offering me that deal for the same price. Couldn't believe it. I still got my 38k part ex and they recently sold it for less than 34k so I think I did alright. Only problem I had was with the electric bed that kept getting stuck but apparently they all need adjusting after purchase and they did that quickly. There location is ok but its tight for parking, You may see motorhomes parked on the industrial estate roads outside but if you are straight with them they are a good dealership.

Love our Carado T339 may not be Hymer spec but it sure beats the Swift Bessacarr we have just got rid off. 6 months into owning our Bessacarr, from new, we had a long list of issues - currently none for our new Carado and had it since last June.

Glad to hear almost everyone is happy with their Adria. Only a few weeks to go till we collect ours. We purchased ours at a local dealer. Signature in Preston can still get 2019 brand new models and their price was was good but we went with a local dealer and got a slightly better deal on the same model.

We are also waiting for our new Adria Compact to arrive but can anyone tell me why you do not get a spare wheel but is supplied with fix and go set up. The large garage would take one easily or have I missed the obvious ?. :reel::hi5:

Hey. Snap. We got out t339 last June as well. Not a single issue and not a single rattle. Love it

Now had quite alot of replies praising the Adria range, however not one for the Carado range !!! Perhaps this tells me something, or simply no one on here owns one !!
We have one. We love it

We were tempted but couldn't find one to buy

Which goes to show that either:

people who have them won't be parted from them

they were never very popular

or maybe both!!!!!

We've been offered as much as we paid for ours in part exchange for a new one but are not tempted even a little bit.

Thanks Kenny HB, we are going to Stafford this week to see Carado, Hymer nd Dethleffs so hopefully see the differences v cost.

In the Hymer group, there is ... Hymer and there is the rest. I exclude Niesmann+Bischoff, also parrt of Hymer group, their real high-end brand.

The main difference between Hymer-branded motorhomes and their more affordable brands is actually not all that visible unless you know what to look for.

Hymer are built with a frameless technique where the panels are the structure due to their natural rigidity. They employ 3cm of poly-urethane foam injected between 2 1.5mm thick aluminium sheets. The PU foam naturally bonds with the aluminium and this gives a unique strength to the cell while keeping it very light. Being frameless, it is also naturally without thermal bridges.

All the other brands in the group use frames, some in wood, some in PU, with insulation being either expanded or extruded polystyrene (EPS and XPS).

You'll also find in Hymer a restrained kind of high-end. Actually more like between middle range and real high end. What I like about it is the total absence of bling, sometimes to a fault.

Carado uses wood and EPS, like most of Dethleff's models. Bürstner is in the middle, using allmethods, including one that ressembles Hymer in its best models.

That said, I found both Carado and Dethleffs to be very well built when we visited them. I think the Dethleffs Globebus T series are remarkable.

The carado might be made of wood, but to a very high standard. The most impressive think we have found is that on the road it is silent. I still smile every time we get onto the motorway.......except for the Belgian ones of course??

we love our 2017 adria twin (6m pvc) a few minor niggles but sorted straight away, and few fiat base recalls, but all in all its great. the fiat base recalls would have been on anything with the 290 cab, so nut just adrias btw!

if you look in the continental models section here, you will see that there are so few problems with adrias compared to many others, the british made ones seem rife with problems!
