Back motorhoming after a 6ish year break!
We are in a PVC Citroen Relay in France just driving to our next destination.

We have done 1280 miles from new and the AdBlue warning has just come on it says 'cannot restart in 1400 miles refill AdBlue'

Would that be 1400 on the clock or 2680, we are confused! It doesn't seem many miles to be adding AdBlue!

Thanks

Himself was topping up the adblue this morning when Sainsbugs delivery arrived. The driver told him that he had been notified this morning that leaving small amounts of adblue in containers would cause it to crystallise and shouldn’t be used. He had just emptied a couple of litres out of a drum before opening a fresh one. Hopefully it shouldn’t cause a problem.
Has anyone heard of this.

Ours did 1400 miles from new when the adblue warning came up, it’s crap tbh imho

Had same issue with my Ducato. Seems manufacturers put minimum in the tank so unless the dealer fills it you’re not going far. I now fill at filling station every 2k miles.

My question, are there different qualities of Adblue, is there a BS mark for the stuff, I realise the BS standard is only a minimum standard.
A friend of mine has a Volvo trucks and buys the Adblue in bulk, a couple of months ago he had to have a new pump at the cost of £1100, and he is starting to question the quality of some Adblue's, I would rather pay a few quid more for better quality(if there is such a thing) than stuck in some layby waiting recovery

At work we had a number of trucks showing ad blu quality low, all had to go into the workshops and a note was sent out saying do not use a batch of ad blu with a specific production date on it, i guess quality must vary batch by batch

Yes I think you should try to empty a container once it is open.

Any overspill resulting in crystallisation can be removed with hot water, obviously don’t pour it in the tank😁👍
This is how we clean our adblu gun at work which gets gummed up with crystallisation 👍

I happened to retrieve a large drum for a garden water butt from a skip at our local car spares depot, with permission , it was used for adblue, they sell it to local garages by refilling containers ,so that's where I will buy my next lot from. If you can't get hold of any or prices are high ,just check your local car spares outlet (y)
