Since 2005! 2000+ nights so far...
I don't mind paying for fuel, and fuel tax, whatever it may be.

But as Ad blue is a "forced" requirement just to be environmentally clean, why is it so expensive?

I say this having filled up at a pump today and paid 33c a litre (!!!) - so clearly £1 a litre is stupidly priced!

Annoying I only got 5L in lol (2000 miles) - and annoying #2 the fuel there was €1.33 a litre and I filled up earlier at €1.50.

This was a standard service station at the side of the road.....

I buy adblu in bulk 4000 ltrs at a time and its 26p per litre which goes to show the mark up the fuel stations are adding but converserly when i buy 20000 ltrs diesel its only fractions of a penny cheaper than pump prices

Just a thought...Is not AdBlue roughly 1 litre every 500 or so mile? If so...does it really mater that much cost wise? Dont use it so I would not know ....Just asking a question as Im curious?

My pickup truck uses 1 ltr in 1,000 miles approx, I buy it from Euro car parts, the price varies but around £12 for 10 ltr

A minor cost in the general running costs of a motorhome.

I would agree too. Tickles me when we discuss pricing of bits and pieces on the forum. Especially when most of us have used a small fortune spent in buying a motorhome in the first place. :xThumb:

Fuel prices are volatile, but your experience is different to my own.

I buy one or two 10,000 litre loads of diesel per month and always beat the best forecourt prices by about 5p per litre. I placed an order yesterday and did exactly that. Four or five years ago I struggled to beat forecourt prices at all, as you have described. The suppliers always said that the cost of the delivery used up any margin. However, since fuel costs went sky high after the Ukraine invasion and ever since, I consistently buy better in bulk than I can at the forecourt. At the peak I was beating forecourt prices by as much as 15p per litre.

I have two suppliers and they both know each order is placed on a best price basis, which may explain why I am getting the better rates.

Adblue is a different story, but then I only buy 1,000 litres at a time and the delivery cost will disproportionately affect the per litre cost. Last order about 3 weeks ago was 45.6p per litre delivered in an IBC. Still loads cheaper than at the forecourt.

It annoys me that one place can charge £10 and another £15 for exactly the same thing. The only difference is the £5 that goes straight into a back pocket

If you leave it until the light comes on you may be forced to pay more than you would with a little planning ahead. Both my AdBlue motorhomes have had gauges I really can’t understand manufacturers who leave this important facility out.

I've just been to home bargains they have 10ltr for £10. I didn't get any as I have some at home, but I'll look there when I need some more.

would love to know where your buying it for 26p per litre. before covid we were paying 28p ppl for 4 to 5000 litres. currently paying 38ppl for an IBC.

Does ad blue vary in quality or is it all pretty standard? Just wondering if there's a 'premium' version that costs more?
