A week later and still feeling upset

You've done it now, the NMC will be out looking for hats

Pleased for you though, nice to hear of people finding happiness ;)
I know… 🙄 this is the first time I’ve mentioned it, the girls will be on to me soon I’m sure…🤣😂

Filled up the MH last week heading home from Spain. €112! The €100 threshold has been well and truly breached

That was in France, where we live. Brain refuses to recall the exact price per litre (too traumatised lol?) but think it was around €1.55, makes the €1.25 we paid in Spain seem a bargain, though it didn't feel it at the time.

MrS's Yorkshire war cry ("How much?!!!") could be heard across Western France ;)
I have just passed our local filling station (Intermarché) and the tanker was there discharging so the price has now gone to 1.609€/l. I'm glad I filled up (the car) earlier this week at 1.559€/l. Of course, in France, there is an element of road fund licence included.

France fuel will always be higher than some other countries as there is no yearly road tax for cars in france you pay as you drive by how much fuel you put in.

Vehicle tax is going up quite a bit in April, with the high fuel costs its all part of the government's plan to get you out of your vehicles. The cost of running a big car or motorhome is going to get to a point where a lot of people will struggle to run them .
Can you imagine travelling to Spain in an electric powered motorhome. Stopping every 100 miles to queue up to use a charging point. And then paying a fortune for the electric because the government has lost its income from the taxes on diesel and petrol.
Not life as we know it.............

I was paying €1.68 ish in Ireland. Now in Spain and it's much cheaper, don't think I've seen it under €1.40 ish though.

You're in the wrong part of Spain. We can get diesel under €1.30 here in Murcia

A much fairer system I think.

I'm using a lot of diesel at the moment running back and forward to my parents' every other week. I really don't have any option except to use a car as public transport wouldn't work (unless I wanted to sleep under a hedge or in a station) - and I take Mum shopping so my car is a real necessity given her opposition to taking toilet rolls into a taxi (yes I know, must be an age thing). Electric isn't an option at the moment for all sorts of reasons plus I am not prepared to swap my 10 year old, practical, paid for, diesel just because I can. I know that at some point I will have to but the time isn't now.

I've never driven an electric but would love to try one on an extended test drive so I can find out for real if I am correct in my assumptions as to practicality. That might change my mind assuming I could afford to buy one.

Since I need the fuel I pay the cost plus the tunnel fees. Mum's offer of £10 for fuel which she thinks would be more than enough to cover that and a coffee stop each way has to be an internal smile. Only once have I filled up when down there and Mum was convinced I must have been running on fumes and I got a lecture!

The UK fuel prices are around 12p a litre more than they should be. The suppliers and the government are raking it in.
No they are at least 36p too dear based on the oil barrel price.
Of course, in France, there is an element of road fund licence included.
I thought that was why you had tolls? Paying twice if that is correct ,like the UK.

1,257 € diesel here today.

It was a short press release by one of the fuel companies saying that they were going to prioritise deliveries to motorway service stations that day because of driver shortage.

That may be so, BUT the only stretch of toll road I use is Boulogne to Abbeville as the alternative is such a pain with a trailer hooked on the back. If we are up that way then we always have the trailer as we are heading to / from the channel crossing

Diesel Today at Mijas, but gone up 5c in less than a week ?

As I said, there was a fuel shortage scare, so many people panic bought. Fuelled by the media....

Suddenly, Diesel went from around £1.25 a litre to £1.50 a litre where we live. Thats a massive increase as our small fleet can use £3,000 a month.

In some areas, diesel price hike was from £1.30 to £1.70 a litre.

Can you imagine if the prices had shot up so quickly without the panic buying ?. But no, everyone is so content to have a full tank.

PS: I am now paying the same Price in Spain Pre-Fuel Shortage / Panic buying, due to the increase in the value of the GBP.

But if the rates GBP/Euro were the same, it would mean around 3-4% increase, not the 15% I can see in the UK

Garages in spain are notified daily with the current oil barrell price & the minimum price to charge to cover costs /litre & it can go down as well as up even without them having deliveries. The minimum price charged/litre is what your next delivery will cost you not what the fuel you just bought has cost. It is a very odd system?

Worse still? I wonder which country had the highest prices. In recent years Italy has always been higher than France
Still was when we came back through in December : anything between eu 1.59 to 1.78. We paid on average about eu1.45 to 1.48 in supermarket petrol stations in France. Even Greece was over 1.45 in most places near us.

Spent the end of last year in Tenerife and I didn't see any refineries or rigs. All imported and about 90p per litre.
