A visit to York Rowntree Park and York City

Have got very strict with length now phoned the other day to see if they could get a 9 metre tag axle on and got a very blunt answer NO use the web site , but most sites will see if they have a long plot they can get you on but noticing more are now saying NO head office rules .
Verry strange but my vehicle always seems to be 8.9m when I am booking a club site but I am sure it is a little bit longer

I am at Abbey Wood and as long as I book pitch with awning they find a spot with a little bit of overhang. The other issue then is "parking between the pegs" as the vehicle is wider than the pegs so would push them over when taking the overhang. By some stroke of magic that I don't understand, the pegs seem to pop out and move just a few inches wider on each side. Who am I too argue?

Non EHU pitches have to be made more readily available, they can do this in Europe, but The CMC are not working fast enough to offer this across the board, which puts many of us self sufficient MH off staying on their sites.

LES
I agree 100% with you on this Les .
Why can we not have all pitchs with EHU, so if you want leccy you have it... if you don't.. you don't.
I have heard numerous times on this forum that the clubs can't because apparently they are not allowed to resell electric. That IMV is utter and total tripe.
Why you may ask? Well i am currently looking at sites for yet another trip up North Scotland and all the sites I have currently checked quote pitch fee prices and IF you require leccy it will be £xx extra.
So if the non club sites can do it, and obviously getting away with it... why not our members club sites.
Like a lot of us on here all I want is the choice to not have electric.
I await the "well if you not happy go else where" lobbyist and my answer to them is I have and do.. But WHY should I be forced out of "My Club's Sites" because of the greed of folk in charge of our so called "non profit making club"

From a site owners perspective if you put someone who does not want electric on an electric pitch and you can not isolate it remotely they wait until the office closes then they go out and plug in and remove it prior to the office opening , and that ruins it for people who want genuine non electric pitches we are isolating 1 row of pitches this year to enable us to do it To work to the letter of the law you are not allowed to make profit from the resale of electric that is why sites do an all in price without splitting the electric element out because without meters you do not know what everyone has used.

Stayed at Rowntree York for 2 nights 5-7th February for £74.80 lovely and clean easy walk into town and we thought it was great value for money so we’ve booked again for June. Having ehu for us is essential at this time as we’re newbies and not equipped or confident enough to go off grid. This may change as we become more experienced.

To work to the letter of the law you are not allowed to make profit from the resale of electric that is why sites do an all in price without splitting the electric element out because without meters you do not know what everyone has used.
So you sell the pitch at an inflated price and include the price of leccy used... wether I use £1.00 or £10.00.
That in my mind us deceitful, immoral and corrupt.
Thought our government was trying to reduce the power energy we as a whole are using? I am not allowed to do that when I am out and about in my van...
Because certain sites won't let me...by insisting I have leccy...
So there I am.. sitting on a pitch quite happy to let my fitted battery's and solar panels (fitted by me at considerable cost) and gas take the strain, but I am forced to pay for leccy.... human nature says I will save my gas and use the leccy being forced upon me...
As stated above... plenty of sites do split the electric element..
I will say again... those that dont....easy money for sites..

The imposition of deposits coupled with an inept website means the site price increases and the higher membership costs means the CAMC is no longer VFM for me compared to C&CC.
So cancelled for the forthcoming year. Will review in 12 months time. No drama

Premier inn is £270 for those dates so doesn’t seem to bad to me

Don’t see how financing a motorhome has anything to do with it as if you drive to the premier inn you probably finance your car

Been there twice ,worst site i've ever been on for ignorant jobsworths and the reason i cancelled the caravan club membership. Since as some else said i use the THS with the C&C at the Rugby club .

We visited York Rowntree Park Caravan and Motorhome Club site in early January this year.

Definitely worth a visit if you have not already been there.

You can see our YouTube video of our visit here: https://youtu.be/FiwUne9NiiY

The National Railway Museum was much better than I had expected.

It's a shame the floods every now and again. I gather it flooded the week after

Just been there last weekend as well for 3 nights. No issues for us, staff pleasant, site tidy, toilets & showers clean and building warm. Great location for the city. Yes not cheap but used the heating on electric instead of using gas so considering the time of year and outside temp probably fair value for the leccie used. Would be different in the summer re value for the leccie though.

The mind boggles that people are willing to pay these sort of tariffs 🤷‍♂️🤦‍♂️ Although your price quoted above seems fair. Trouble is, if well used, it sets a Precedence for the future 😬
