A question re : when refillable cylinders reach their expiry date

And I wonder what they then do with the old ones, re-furbish perhaps and flog as new, or just Chuck them away?
Chuck them away .
We actually scraped a load of brand new Underslung LPG tanks recently along with plenty of valves , regulators etc .
No reputable company is going to mess around with out of date ones.

Does anyone know if you can still go to the factory in Germany and get the bottles changed and if so what the process is?

I managed to get a lightweight refillable delivered to Spain in 4 days from Belgium...buying in the EU for us is easy....from the UK or other third countries no so... therefore buying from a UK source isn't on for us...even with a generous Funster discount...

If you have ever been to Morocco, I am sure most of their cylinders are on a second life from other country’s. They are all very battered and dented and sit in full sun all day outside the various retailers and never hear of a gas accident there.
I check our installation for leaks around all joints and the valve stems every couple of months. And a manometer test also.

Surely they won't exchange full one though.
I was thinking of changing to gasit as they are much cheaper, heavier but after using refillable for some years I don't really need to have such a large capacity.

Might be worth a look, you would need new pigtail at same time anyways.

Morocco is like most other African countries and has an appalling safety record regarding gas safety, I think the only real question is why do tourists leave their common sense at home and join in the lunacy ⚠️

So the place in Germany Lenny mentioned that swaps your old cylinders for new ones and you pay just over half price, they then just Chuck away the old ones you have part exchanged?

In my eyes it’s a bit like the 30 something year olds that won’t drink milk if it’s a day out of date. You pays your price you takes your chance ☺️

They go back to Alugas as they used to refirbish your own cylinders I assume they refirbish them.

Our understanding is is that refurbishment is no longer possible just as in the UK.
We just scrap / recycle all tanks / cylinders.

"Cost me €461.50 including €21.50 for fitting for two cylinders, same price for 11kg & 14kg, so less than £400, ours are 14kg. ..."

My SafeFill 11kg brand new cost me £205 delivered last May. So £410 for two. Broadly the same cost (Less if you are not heading to Germany anyway!). I do hate waste and our throw away society and so will at least look at Alugas when replacing the SafeFill. But that is aeons off yet.
