Belens are a tradition here where villages create huge models depicting the islands famous bits. Biggest is this one in Yaiza. 260m3
The detail is stunning and we were trying to match each bit to a part of the island.

Just as we'd done there was a total blackout. We thought it was local, but the whole island was down for 10 minutes. By 'ell, it was dark
