Apologies for not following the rules of it being within the last 24 hours but i took these over the weekend and couldn't find anywhere else to stick them (suggestions not needed thank you very much).:giggle:

Big thanks to Jim and everyone involved with the show at Lincoln - we really, really enjoyed it.

I went back to the reservoir today to finish off the work. We got access inside the outfall tower this time. I was surprised as they said it was 130 metres deep, but it was too dark to see all the way down.
I did spot this forlorn looking device that I imagined would have recorded the water level onto graph paper wrapped around the silver cylinder, which was driven from the clock mechanism via a small shaft and bevel gears, the mechanism being driven by a substantial cast iron weight that, given the 130 m drop, could have ran for some time ?
Google told me that Glenfield and Kennedy were set up in the late 1800's in Kilmarnock and that the device would have measured water consumption and would have been connected by a thin wire cable (still attached) to a metering unit somewhere in the bowels of the tower. I think it deserves to be refurbished and on display somewhere ?

Might get told off for these as they are obviously not "of the day". Someone recently put a pic up of their Caterham. I did say i would post mine i once had.
Red one is a 1700 Super Sprint. Two tone green one had a 2ltr Vauxhall unit that had been well breathed on.
We had a ever changing fleet..............sometimes too many at a given time.

Evenings pooch walk to the beach just now we happened to see a baby calf being born.
By the time I’d nipped back for my phone little “Mooie” was about twenty minutes old and seems to be being sheltered by mum from the driving rain.
Hopefully all is well but I’ll have a lookout for “Mooie” in the mornin.
Mum didn’t want him being photographed 😉

After 25kms of dusty, gravel roads through bush and farmland we eventually arrived at the small settlement of French Pass in the Marlborough Sounds at the very top of the South Island, NZ. The van will need a thorough wash, inside and out, when we get home tomorrow.

Mooie update.

Little “Mooie” made it through the night and was on the far side of the field with his mum. 🙂
He’s about 20hrs old and is only just visible with his mum nearest the fence.
unfortunately the phone couldn’t zoom in any more.
I went back this afternoon but the field is completely empty.

Fairly certain that all the herd have been moved to a less windswept area as the shoreline is just behind that field and we’re having terrible storms at the moment.
last night I walked over to a retired farmer when Mooie was only minutes
old with it being so wet/cold he assured me that the breed of cow ”calf’s in the field” He did chuckle when I explained all the calfing on tv happens in a barn😳
We leave here tomorrow morning so can’t check on Mooie ☹️
