Heading down to Christchurch (NZ) we overnighted at the racecourse at the whale-watching town of Kaikoura. It’s £3 per night and this is the view from across the road.

A pod of Hector’s Dolphins playing around some kayakers. Hector’s are only about 1.5m long and endemic to NZ. Quite rare too.
I spent about an hour watching them from the shore while my husband held a Zoom meeting sitting at bench on the beach oblivious to what was going on over his left shoulder.

Another pitch with a view
Looks very much like Arnside!

Took me back a few years to early 70's. Margaret was quite heavily pregnant with our firstborn.

She wasn't quite as interested in the fishing as I was :rolleyes: so decided to have a walk along the "beach" when she heard something akin to an air raid siren going off. Just wondering what it was when she saw a wall of water coming towards her similar to the Severn Bore.

Had to get out of the way fairly sharpish:frowny:
