A photo of the day thread

Oh bless, that looks a large op wound :( But a contented looking dog now. Hope the recovery continues well.

Thanks, it was a Mastel tumour, so good to be gone. She’s doing well, hopefully will lose the lamp shade Wednesday, as it tends to hook-up on things.

The beauty of bricks, my son is going to build me a wall around part of my garden so I have been taking a few ideas while I have been out and about. I took this one yesterday in St Albans which is a bit special. We also took a load in and around Windsor yesterday. I just need to sit down with him now, paste a few ideas together and get the bricks ordered...We spotted some with 4 brick wide pillars also look fantastic.

Good stuff matamoros thanks, I'm learning, I have been attracted to these designs without knowing the technical aspects of the Flemish Bond. I must say that these Queen closers had me a bit puzzled. I have some pictures of a new build which contains these queen closers and it looks really good... We will get there but I want to get it right before we start... (y)

Many years ago I looked into the various bricklaying bonds and methods when I worked for a short time in the building trade but not as a bricklayer.

I very much doubt that many these days have the skills to build using these old methods, there are all sorts of closers etc usually used to maintain the bond round corners and openings etc.

I am sure that there are some tradesmen on here that know far more about this this than I do.
