Some photos from our long walk today at Meggat reservoir a few mile from Moffat . It's the largest reservoir in Scotland, that supplies the whole of Edinburgh . It was sunny at one side and icy cold at the other. But well worth the single track up to it . We did a long , long walk then had hot crusty bread and fresh soup for lunch in Pug .

Also on Bickerton Hill, Cheshire, the cave known locally as Mad Allen's Hole, reputedly the haunt of a 19th Century hermit for many years. The moss covered blocks are a collapsed overhang, suggesting it may well have been occupied in prehistoric times too. Unfortunately any evidence of that is now sealed beneath tons of sandstone. Not an easy place to find, but worth the scamble.

In a niche right next to Mad Allen's place are three carved skulls - here's two of them:

If I'd been accompanied by native bearers on today's trip they'd all have dropped the expedition baggage and fled into the trees at the sight of these wouldn't they?

Carved faces can be found in other places along the Sandstone Ridge if you know where to look for them, exact age uncertain.

Another amazing canal. Moored up at Bugsworth basin many times. We cruised for seven months of the year then went into our marina for the winter. Did this for over eight years. Great lifestyle. Miss it. But now enjoying motor homing.
I'm from Stockport originally but lived in Marple Bridge, Hazel Grove, Bramhall (amongst other places). I know Bugsworth and Buxworth well though we were moored 5 miles West of there, near Poynton.
This was a few days ago, but have been without internet. Spent a few days in the New Forest. Gorgeous weather except for yesterday afternoon.

Were you at Setthorns?
We planned to spend New Year there but it was full!!!!! I think it has about 240 places so that's quite an achievement.

My Hymer would be wheel-spinning like crazy on an icy uphill road I reckon. It doesn't take much for the front wheel to lose traction.

Lovely photos. I plan to do a short visit to Scotland next spring.

Not exactly "Of The Day" but I put together a few images I've taken, many of which are on this thread, since we got our first MH in August, and put them in a slideshow on Youtube.

If you have a coffee to drink, a left-over mince pie to eat....then sit back for 5 minutes and see what we were able to do, courtesy of Humberto in 2016.

Ralph says Pugs got mud and snow Tyres ( Michelin )
We love Scotland .
It was thick black ice in places yesterday , up there , but he kept it slow and steady . Plenty traction . Didn't skid at all , up or down the steep hills .

I think I'd call it leucistic rather than albino @Rolly
Good spot, nice pic!

No, I stayed at 2 CL's, both only had one other caravan there and got the impression they were both there long term. I had looked at actual campsites and the prices for the Christmas period went rather ridiculous.

Wow what a wonderful 5 minutes viewing ! Thank you for sharing. Some I've seen on The Photo thread but it's great to see them in sequence.
You have embraced Motorhoming to its fullest and kept a lovely record of your trips!!
Whatever did you do before?!!
Thanks again both!(y)

I enjoyed that very much, thank you. Some familiar scenes in there!
I'd like to do something similar (if not so good) of some of my trips. Would you be prepared to take the time to give a step-by-step how-to-do a slide show, & then YouTube it? If so, that would be absolutely fantastic; but I won't be upset if not!
Lovely pics @Go Humberto! , keep 'em coming!

Thanks.

Most of my working life (and currently) I have been a tiny cog in colossal Telecoms/IT machines. Photography has been a hobby since I bought a ZENIT E in 1977 (Remember those anybody?) and started processing Black & Whites (whilst my parents paced up and down the landing, waiting to use the bathroom).

Getting Humberto has given me an excuse, and the locations, to devote more time to it.
Our plan is to retire ASAP and go full-time in Europe and Scandinavia for as long as we feel like.
I hope to continue documenting our adventures, in the Blog, on Youtube and here.

Thanks.

That sounds like a great plan and you have a good MH for the trip!

Sure. Youtube make it very easy to do. This is what I would do (having just done it).

1) Create a folder on your PC. Call it something like Slideshows -> Slideshow 2016
2) Go back through your photos in some sort of logical sequence, eg. start with Jan 2016 images.
3) Be super-critical and choose an image for inclusion
4) Edit it (lots of free image editors out there - check this link for some >>HERE<< )
5) For the best looking slideshow I'd crop the image into 16:9 so it fills most PC and Phone screens. It really looks nicer when it fills the screen.
6) Resize the image to 1920x1080 Landscape format where possible (it's not essential but no point uploading huge images, 1920 is fine, all mine are).
7) Save the edited image to your new folder (You can also enhance it a bit, contrast, saturation, brightness..etc)
7a) Editing a photo isn't cheating. It's about making the image reflect the feeling you had when you were there, not what the camera thought you wanted.
8) That's the hard part, you have a folder full of images all prepared.
9) Go to Youtube and go to "My Channel" (top left)
10) Go to "upload" (usually an arrow in the top right)
11) Now you will get the option to upload a video or images "Select Files to Upload"
12) Before you do anything click on "Photo Slideshow" on the right and "Create"
13) This is where you get to upload the images you saved. Select "Upload Photos" option and then "Select Photos from your Computer"
14) Now you will get a selection screen. Locate your folder and select all the images you saved. Uploading them may take 5-10 minutes if there are lots.
15) Press "Next" when you are happy they all uploaded.
16) Now you get a chance to select some royalty-free music. You can select the type and duration of the tracks. That's down to you but the slideshow will fit to the music. I found an Ambient track of about 5 minutes in duration.
16a) A 5 minute track is 300 seconds so 50 images will last 6 seconds each, about right. You don't want 300 images and a 300 second track or they will flick through at 1sec each.
17) You'll see the options for duration, slide effect and cross-fade (I chose "Fit to music", "Pan & Zoom", "Crossblur") You'll see and hear a preview as you select the options if you wait a few seconds.
18) Happy? Press "Upload"
19) You'll see the progress and you'll have the chance to type a title and description while it's uploading. Press "Publish" when you've done that and WAITTTTTTTT
20) Mine took all evening to finish uploading and processing but it was all done next morning.
21) Return to Youtube, go to "My Channel" and "Uploads". It should be there.

If you can test these steps and let me know if I missed anything I'd be grateful. If it works OK I'll copy and paste the instructions to its own thread "How to make a Youtube Slideshow" on the forum.

Wow Lee that's fantastic, thank you!
It may be some time before I can do a proper show, but I'll try to do a shortie tomorrow & let you know.

:mnythnks:

@Go Humberto!
I had a go, here it is (with good luck and a following wind):

Didn't know how to re-size though (step 6)
Oh, and obviously I didn't do any editing apart from cropping, and didn't select good photos - just a small folder I already had

That was fun! (And very easy to follow your instructions) Thank you!!!!

Looks good to me.

I created a separate thread, in Photography, "Creating a Youtube Slideshow", as a reference.
