There are always some in the motorhoming fraternity that have a blase attitude to the motoring laws of another country
For a change i thought i would get it right first timeso do I but as from 1st January 2026 it says that these with geo location are the required ones?
Yes. Every country and every political union have thousands of civil servants desperate to justify their jobs so spend years sitting in dark rooms dreaming up new laws. I cite French requirements for breathalysers that they now don’t require. What's wrong with hazards? Do they need to reinvent the wheel?
Yep just like the 20mph in Wales.Yes. Every country and every political union have thousands of civil servants desperate to justify their jobs so spend years sitting in dark rooms dreaming up new laws. I cite French requirements for breathalysers that they now don’t require.
I think the legislation in France still stands but they amended the enforcement of it. Easier than repealing the legislation I understand, unless they’ve done it now over the passage of time.Yes. Great idea but how do you get that to stay put on a motorhome where in can be seen.Warning Triangles In Spain To Be Replaced By V16 Emergency Beacons By 2026
Spain's DGT Traffic Authority has set out plans to introduce tougher sanctions for drivers, which are expected to come into effect by the end of 2021.www.healthplanspain.com
I have one, just in-case. I test it every time I pick it up from the airport.
And I think it is a much better idea than a triangle a few meters behind you
mine has a hanger/hookGreat idea but how do you get that to stay put on a motorhome where in can be seen.
Says who ?The laws in Spain have recently been updated regarding A frames and they are 100% illegal, found it’s a fine and your not moving until the car is removed off the van.
That’s our fourth this trip but the only one with Spanish regFunny enough on our way back from Portugal beginning March have seen 3 on the roads in Spain I must say I've not noticed that many before.
& totally illegal at most ITV test stations. Where I go all of that would have to be removed completely back to where the connections are. & probably once they spotted that they would put a "muy grave" on the test form meaning it cannot be taken away except on a trailer or low loader & straight to somewhere to have the front cross member replaced. How about this then Spanish registered with Aframe fittings
But not allowed in SpainView attachment 875205
DGT,Trafíco. Here where it was discussed on MHF .Says who ?
& if I had to hazard a guess it is quite possibly owned by a foreigner, possibly British, who has had it fitted over there. Additionally as it is a car ,& registration starts with K*,& doesn't need a test until 4 years old it is quite possible that it has not been for its first test yetThat’s our fourth this trip but the only one with Spanish reg
Thing is Gus this particular model of Smart car has been out of production for a good few years now it is the old shape one pre 2012& totally illegal at most ITV test stations. Where I go all of that would have to be removed completely back to where the connections are. & probably once they spotted that they would put a "muy grave" on the test form meaning it cannot be taken away except on a trailer or low loader & straight to somewhere to have the front cross member replaced.
For any that think laterally that it might be 'homologated' under 'proyecto' rules .No it can't be .The modified cross member would have to be tested for similar to a new CoC but to any motor engineer they would not do it solely on the grounds that the rules in Spain specifically state that a "motor vehicle cannot be towed"
* & yes you can find them on sale here occasionally on Milanuncios .Always ending with "Not legal for road use"

here is the law that it comes from as posted in that thread link & section 8 is what you require. https://encaravana.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/07/Instrucción-PROT-2023_14_AUTOCARAVANAS.pdf.xsig_.pdf
paragraph 4 line 2 states quite clearly;
** dicha posibilidad no está permitida en el
Reglamento General de Vehículos, **
which ,in English, translates as " such a possibility is not permitted under the general vehicle regulations.:
