We have travelled down from Whitby to Ashford in Kent to catch an early shuttle tomorrow. Stopped 3 times on the way down ( dog walks / toilet breaks / food stop) and no problems. Got to our overnight stay, parked Moho outside and was shown where it had to be parked. Went to move it and it wouldn't start. No clicking from the starter solenoid (engine and leisure batteries showing 12.8v) and no noise from the starter motor. Is it a fuse problem, or something worse?

sometimes you just got to roll with it, dont let it get you dont too much ( i know)
but it is what it is, hopefully you will look back as part of the "adventure"

good luck
Oh we will! Same as our EGR valve failure in the Pyrenees last year still makes us laugh 😁

Sorry to hear of your stater problem. The good thing is you are booked to cross on the Shuttle,it’s much easier to move your crossing than the ferry if needs be. Good luck with getting sorted, and have a great holiday.(y)
Thanks !

Try to get some sleep, difficult I know, especially as your brain will be working overtime. Then bush, bash, bosh, mechanic turns up, sorts it out and you’re on you wayyyyyyy.

Good luck 🥱 😴 💤
I'm a dyed-in-the-wool Yorkshireman - how can I possibly sleep with the thought of upcoming expenditure on my mind? 😉

With the headlights on do they dim when you try to start it, if the starter motor is jammed you should still see the lights dim. When its light the wire that goes to the starter (not the big heavy one the one that is live when key turned make sure it has not worked loose some are nut and bolt some are just a large spade terminal, also with it removed use a volt meter check there is 12 volts there when key is turned, another possibility is the wire at the bottom of the ign barrel. Has a burnt contact.

Have you changed your Tunnel booking? It’s simple and at no cost and will also take the pressure off you thinking you’re going to miss it.
Hope it goes well, starter motors are normally an easy fix.

We contacted Eurotunnel first thing this morning - we have a 2 hour "grace" period after our original booking time - if we turn up within that time they will put us on the next available train. After the 2 hours, we have to amend the booking to suit.

What time was your departure?, will you make it in time if the mechanic fixes it before 1PM?
Fingers crossed its being done as we speak.
Good luck.

Team DogHouse to the rescue. They got us a great mobile mechanic, plied us with coffee and let us use their bathroom facilities even though they were closed to the public. The starter motor has been renewed and the problem sorted. Now at Le Shuttle departure, awaiting boarding the 13:18 train. Just heard about the French farmers blocking motorways and main roads - last year we had the fuel shortage, now potential grid lock. Gotta love France.

But at least you will get across the channel, glad you are all sorted, a sleepless night I bet. Enjoy your holiday. Lots of protests and fires on roundabouts I am afraid 😟 but chill and relax ☺️ keep topped up with fuel as some are panick buying 😜

That's great news for you. Things happen when we are travelling, and very often we can take some positives from the experience, e.g. the people who help us and unplanned experiences.
We broke down near to Pamplona this year and whilst or motorhome was being repaired we enjoyed an unscheduled visit to Pamplona.

We’ve just passed through France. We had three satnavs going. Via Michelin was definitely best at re-routing to avoid the farmers’ demonstrations but we only have a 5.4m PVC; the alternative routes might not be suitable for a large motorhome.
