We have travelled down from Whitby to Ashford in Kent to catch an early shuttle tomorrow. Stopped 3 times on the way down ( dog walks / toilet breaks / food stop) and no problems. Got to our overnight stay, parked Moho outside and was shown where it had to be parked. Went to move it and it wouldn't start. No clicking from the starter solenoid (engine and leisure batteries showing 12.8v) and no noise from the starter motor. Is it a fuse problem, or something worse?

As said. Get out lock up, set alarm. Then leave 5 mins and then go through your standard unlock start procedure.

Check the earth leads .
If you have jump leads connect the negative side of the starter battery to a different earth.
See if any of the above helps
Tried that thanks - it's not the battery / batteries

Do you have an immobiliser ?

If so try setting and then unsetting it, waiting 5 mins between sequences.
(It's happened to me more than once)

Sometimes the starters have a moment and just lock up. Left to cool they may restart without issues. Sometimes the internal wiring just dies without warning

Starter solenoid have a fuse ?
Faulty solenoid ?
Then the ignition fuses maybe

or lastly........does it have a neutral safety, if not in neutral, wont engage full ignition?

Check for voltage at various points in the starting circuit, such as the battery terminals, solenoid terminals, and starter motor terminals. This can help you pinpoint where the power is failing.

Hot engine and starter motor ?
Once it has cooled down will the starter motor 'unstick'

Used to be a regular problem with VW's.
The solution was to bang the starter motor with a hard item (can of beans, half a brick, a random large tool)
or if you left it an hour, it would cool down and start as normal.

This. Bang the starter motor with a bit of wood or rubber mallet.

Quick checks…..

Battery terminals on tight
fuel/crash reset switch
rock vehicle in gear to move starter
immobiliser
cable to starter on tight

Call the AA, sharpish, and would be great if you posted the elusive solution when you get chilled down

What is the base vehicle and registered date. Some (if not all now) have fuel/crash reset switch that is supposed to be triggered in a collision to stop the engine and try to prevent fuel fires.

Where the switch is depends on the base vehicle

I feel so sorry for garry55 what a way to start a holiday. I would agree with most advice given thus far, you have done the basics that most of us could do at this point.
As for checking voltages and connections to the starter motor & solenoid yes do that, buts its pitch dark now, bloomin cold, and I wouldn't want to be crawling under a van in the dark with a torch in my mouth.
I would call your break down company, and wait it out, see what they discover, fingers crossed they get you going again.
Keep warm & safe until then.

It's the starter motor that's jammed. It's been rocked, hit with a hammer and cursed at but to no avail. The Doghouse staff have been wonderful and are letting us use there facilities in the morning. Hopefully a mobile mechanic will be in attendance tomorrow morning. Thanks to all for your hints and tips - the forum comes up trumps again! Best £20 I've spent 😁

Sorry to hear of your stater problem. The good thing is you are booked to cross on the Shuttle,it’s much easier to move your crossing than the ferry if needs be. Good luck with getting sorted, and have a great holiday.(y)
