Hi All
We are considering buying an A Class. We currently have a fiat Ducato coachbuild but use an external silver screen to avoid condensation building up on the inside of the front screen during the winter. During my travels I haven’t seen many people use a silver screen or equivalent on an A Class. Do A Class front screens suffer with condensation if you just use the internal blinds that are fitted?
thank you for any advice.

If you remove a bottle of milk from a fridge into a warm room hotter than the fridge in a few seconds water condensation appear on outside of bottle, same applies to windscreens, cold outside warm inside and moisture always in Motorhomes

The external screen is the very last thing I put away when packing up in winter, immediately followed by starting the engine and operating the cab aircon and demister control, to keep the screen clear.

Cheers,

Jock. :)

Hi we had loads of problems with condensation inside our A class even using the internal blind.
However we bought a Polar Tech external windscreen cover and not a drop of condensation at all. It hooks over the drivers door and uses suckers inside the sliding passenger window to fix it.
Fantastic piece of kit, not cheap but worth every penny!!

I have seen these recommended on a german motorhome website
Amazon product ASIN B09ZHM66RZ
We inherited 2 x long toweling rolls, which lay along the width of the dashboard at the windscreen. They are filled with cat litter, and do help to keep condensation down, when not using the external screens. We have since replaced them with the same, but with a more absorbent filling.

We only use the Karcher window vac if needed.

Cheers,

Jock. :)

Ah, I thought the idea came from Armytwowheels Sandra, but she said no. Now we all know. ;)

They do work to a degree, especially if the cab thermal blind is down and no external screens are in use.

Cheers,

Jock. :)

Possibly guilty as charged as I do recall talking about them a while back, for those who aren't any good at sewing large sausages a couple of long socks would possibly do the trick so long as the material was tightly knitted/woven.

What do you use in them?

You can get a Swedish insulated screen cover that holds onto the glass with extra strength magnets, obviously you need to fix magnets inside your screen then you just fit the insulation with a long stick.
Ohh really must look as I got the inside windows fit ones and they can blow about a bit.
Any links or name please?

However, I think I am going to make some. Sounds a good idea when touring and cannot put up, or be bothered, with external screens.

Just thought of a way to make the 'tube' more likely to keep the contents in, put the litter in an old pair of tights first (not laddered ones!) or stockings ... just make sure the person who they belong to doesn't want them back.:giggle:

We have an A class. Try Minster products in Sheffield. Graham is really helpful.

We have a Hymer exsis A class and use an external screen, black in our case. Works superbly to stop condensation. Had it made to measure, about £280 a couple of years ago...

An A-class suffers condensation the same as any other motorhome, when it gets cold enough to cause condensation I use my Silver Screens on my Hymer A-class, maybe the price of Silver Screens and other makes could be the reason, around £400 and they usually want to make a template, one company at a show wanted nearly £500..... just sayin...
That seems very expensive ...Minster screens made ours for about £280 3 years ago. Fits beautifully.

I looked this morning and couldn't find them so just looked again and, the web site is under renovation (still) https://www.rvmasters.se/sv-SE/english-45760873

They do sunscreens and thermally insulated screens so you have both ends of the temperature scale covered, you stick magnets inside the screen and then their product has magnets sewn into pockets in the screens so very quick to put on and take off.
I can confirm that they are a great product, certainly not cheap. I bought the sunshade and the insulated screen a few year back after receiving a recommendation from SallylilIan. The sunscreen was £750 and the insulated screen £1300 but that was about 2 years ago.
