A/C service

The smells on vehicle A/C tends to be caused by bacteria growing in the vent system of the A/C not the A/C it’s self. You can get aerosol sprays that are discharged into the system that kills the bacteria, but the gas in the A/C system has no effect, so regassing is not required.

I think the worst problem with vehicle ac units is the condensate drain. That blocks up and the first you know is a wet splash on your foot!
There is usually a rubber drain tube that comes out underneath the vehicle near the bulkhead. Worth proding it with a bit of wire to make sure it is clear if you are ever under it.

But don't prod too far or too heavy I've seen evaporators punctured doing that. Most evaporators require dash removal to replace.

That makes sense, I'll take that on board, cheers

I was recently offered a business opportunity for supplying/installing a clever bit of aftermarket air-conditioning kit.
Had to decline but it does look like a cost effective alternative to the normal Air-con systems.
Check it out Here.

You may as well have thrown your money away with these. They work in very dry and very hot conditions and nowhere else.

Think of it like a fan passing over a bowl of water, not exactly high tech or effective.

Glad I didn't go down that route then!

Yes we have a similar idea but bigger on our house in Perth Australia. Works very good and a lot cheaper to run than the normal aircon system.
