A 1st for me today

Why a faff - is it oneof those wet room type cubicles where everything gets wet or is it a proper shower cubicle?

Bob, the shower in our van is one of the best showers I’ve ever been in, including the crap thing at home. We do use one of those heads filled with pebbles etc and it’s brilliant, and believe you me I was the most sceptical person ever regarding those heads👍👍

Don't know what a wet roof shower is?
It's a propper shower cubicle i think. All formica walls. Plenty of room. Nowhere to put soap n shampoo stuff but that could be easily rectified. Water pressure good and hot. Towel hanging rail from the ceiling kept dropping down, another easy fix (wife uses it for extra cloaths hanging.

We use ours infrequently ( use facilities on site usually) but it is a good shower .

I’ve seen these folk trudging to toilet block in all weathers carrying there toilet bag and big roll in odd looking footwear. Not for me.Stay in MH, stay clean, warm, dry, private, totally comfortable, how can communal facilities match that,Oh and the smell😳

We always use the shower in our motorhome.

Yes, it is a bit small, but I would rather have the space in the living areas, we don’t spend all day in the bathroom.

If you don’t use it surely that limits your ability to use Aires, wild camp etc.

Still, each to their own. I can’t get upset simply because others don’t use their showers. We buy our motorhomes and then use them as each of us wishes.

Can’t wait to start our six weeks trip around France starting in May.

We always use the MH shower when away, never the site ones (if on a site!). One of the non-negotiable when we were searching for a MH was a self-contained shower, NOT a wet room. Our MH has a brilliant clever shower with a “beam me up, Scottie” screen enclosure that rolls away neatly. Perfect.

We use ours for showering though the space is also used for storage so there has to be some re-organisation.
The only issue is that it isn’t really designed for “the gentleman with the fuller figure.”

The shower in our motorhome is brilliant, we always use it.

We rarely stay on sites but even when we do, we never use the showers there, we would much rather use our own facilities but everyone uses their vans differently.

We have friends who never use their shower unless they are off grid and that is very rare.

Didn't use our shower until covid came along having had the van for 8 years by then. We hadn't realised what we were missing not a massive cubicle but adequate and get a good comfortable shower. Bonus not to have to traipse to a shower block on a cold wet night during winter holidays.
Also discovered you can happily use the onboard toilet for number 2s.
Who knew.
Happy days bless covid! ;)

Ah wet room type thing.
Now understanding.
Ours IS all one room but the shower part has a 3 part folding door, when in and closed it's to all intents and purpose a shower cubicle.
AND that was part of the faff, nowhere to put soap, shampoo.
I've fixed the drop down towel rail already, so one job done.
Will now get a soap/shampoo container thing to fix at sensible height AND might use the shower again.

We are in the 'always use the MH shower' group, even on the odd occasion when we are on a campsite i.e. every 3 years or so.

Ours is one room with a curtain to stop it being a wet room and plenty of room within the curtain and lots more when drawn back after the showering.

I am against the separate shower and toilet cubicles design, because of the space it takes within the body length or necessitating a longer bod, but it seems to be the norm now.

I had a shower in the van.
Big faff but in the end all got good and clean.
Not going to make an habit of it. Just thought i would give it a go.

As has already been mentioned, we all do what we prefer with our MoHo’s. I would not wish to be critical of anyone preferring to use on site shower facilities. Obviously no choice when wild camping (which we mostly do) or at a CL with no shower facilities. However, on those occasions when it suits us to use a full facilities site, the ”Faff Options” seem to be……

1. Shower in MoHo….. Wake up, remotely use smartphone to turn up Truma heating (if needed), get out of bed, have a cup of tea, get in shower before SWMBO (last one in wipes down shower!), put on clean socks/underwear/shirt, get dressed, eat Breakfast which SWMBO has prepared whilst showering, catch-up with emails etc whilst SWMBO has a shower……ready for the day. (y)

or…..

2. Use Shower Block…… Wake up, remotely turn up heating, get out of bed, have a cup of tea, put on yesterday‘s dirty socks/underwear/shirt, pack clean socks/underwear/shirt in backpack to take with soap box/shampoo/towel to shower block, check not raining and anorak etc needed, put on suitable footwear, wonder off to shower block, half-way there remember you have forgot crocks/flip-flops to use in shower to reduce risk of catching Athelete‘s Foot infection, return to MoHo to get wet footwear, head off back to Shower Block, check available cubicles for cleanest, enter cubicle hoping there is a dry area for hanging your clothes, undress, put dirty socks/underwear/shirt in backpack, shower and dry (hope you did not forget the towel), put on clean socks/underwear/shirt trying best to avoid getting wet in the water accumulated on the floor, repack everything inside the backpack, carry wet footwear used in shower separately, make cursory effort to leave the shower cubicle clean for the next person, walk back to MoHo, put wet shower footwear in bottom of your own shower to dry, eat breakfast (now rather cold) which SWMBO prepared whist you spent 30 mins faffing about using the Shower Block……. Ready for the day, except now waiting another 30 mins plus for SWMBO to use shower block. See that SWMBO has left her towel behind. Take it to Shower Block. Shout for SWMBO at entrance to Ladies Showers. Find she is already wet. Wait for another lady using the showers to arrive. Ask her to take towel to SWMBO. Back to MoHo. 20 mins later SWMBO returns with wet her as the shower block hair drier not working. To save time you have already disconnected the EHU whilst waiting for her. Fire up the inverter, reminding her not to use the hair drier on full power. Sit around getting increasingly grumpy. Finally, get to depart for the day an hour or so later than intended!!! (n)

Don’t ask how I know all of the above! We definitely always shower on board now.

Just a thought……do folk who avoid showering in their MoHo’s have similar views on Lavatory usage?:ROFLMAO:

Our friends I mentioned earlier, who have only ever used their onboard shower when on the very rare occasions they are off grid, also do not use their toilet for anything other than number ones, unless again off grid and even number ones are discouraged if they can be avoided by using other available facilities :ROFLMAO:

have a trip to dunelm or home bargains etc and get shower / bath wall baskets to hold your toiletries and was sponge / flannel that you stick to the tiles using suction cups. Should do the job and make life easier for you.

2 showers provided by Rapido in ours. Maybe ... when my annual shower falls due ...
