Rally Chat 5th Anniversary Highland Gathering 18th -22nd June

Thanks for your help, Sandra. I know that we will be well looked after in Vancouver and we are looking forward to a week relaxing in a van in the Rockies after the difficult part is over.
See you all soon

With the food theme, and sorry to be a pain, hope no one is offended, but I have to stick to a very specialised medical diet so will be bringing food for myself and to share but will not be able to taste other people's food :( or drink :( (If I don't behave I end up in hospital for a few months so not to be taken lightly and even a couple of crumbs will be enough to make me sick)

You wouldnt be tasting any of mine anyway Helen. I just hand some food over and leave the cooking to the men. :-)
When are you heading up?

When are you heading up?

We will be heading up on Thursday :) leaving quite early I expect and having a few stops en-route. We'd like to leave on Wednesday but with the problems at home that isn't possibel and we will need to get back as soon as the meet is over :(

We will probably catch up with you then. :-)

Are you setting off on Thursday as well? Our usual stops are Pitlochry and Aviemore depending on time .... but Perth and Kinross services or Perth services if necessary :) Not really decided on stops yet as we need to check the map which is in the van :)

Wednesday we will be loading up.

We normally head up Thurs afternoon and overnight in the car park at Pitlochry but if we catch up with you we will just head up too.

Posting this on behalf of Jean who is looking after the event in Margarets abscence at the moment.
Hi All

In Margaret's absence, I enclose the updated list of members who have confirmed that they are attending, If I have missed anyone, please get in touch,- it is not deliberate - I am new to this organise a meet lark!
I also attach a list of members who expressed an interest but have not confirmed yet. I would appreciate it if these members could let me know if they are intending to attend, along with a note of numbers in party, and the days of arriving and leaving.
Just a reminder of some details

General things to bring - if you have them/can:
Extra shelter, cover, awning etc - in case weather is not too good
BBQ (may or may not be necessary, as we have some already)
Barbeque tools

Donations of some of these:
Charcoal, firelighters, bin bags, kitchen paper, etc
Rolls, sauces, salads, etc.
Paper plates & plastic cutlery

Specific things to bring:

For yourselves:
Liquid refreshment - Don't bring Lager - there is plenty here to share.

For BBQs: Thursday and Saturday:
Food - enough for yourselves - for potluck to share

For Friday: Themed evening:
Motorhome magic
One or two courses - enough for yourself, but be prepared to share/ taste other peoples’ recipes - and a hat or clothes to match!
The idea is that you prepare or cook your favourite, simplest, motorhome food - the easier the better and if you like, bring copies of your recipes to share. On second thoughts it should be so easy that it doesn't need a recipe

Other possibilities:
a musical instrument for an impromptu ceilidh
As this is an anniversary meet if you have any photos of earlier meets, please bring them, the earlier the
I would like to appeal to all attending to be generous in their donations for what is a very worthy cause. A donation of £5 to £10 per person per night is suggested.

As it is going to be a busy meet, it would help if we could be told if anyone is not going to attend.
Looking forward to seeing you all next week sometime.

For Jean via Sandra @irnbru

We (2) are missing but confirmed some time ago! We will be on the CS rather than the rally field though.

Unfortunately I can't take part in food share / taste / BBQ due to diet requirements but will bring food for others to taste.

It's Ok Helen I already mentioned to Jean about you being in EHU .

Can I suggest Perth area for a Scottish Rally. Got a chance then of people from Inverness & North joining group. As you know travelling from up North can take longer than some folk travelling from England.

Thanks for this suggestion. We are happy for others to arrange meets further south - Irnbru has one, or has just had one, at the Falkirk wheel, but as we have the facilities here, this is where we hold our gatherings and mini meets.
BTW I think my sub is about to run out so if I don't answer further posts - that is why!
All the best and safe travels

Hi, Steve
Yes we have one in August - 18th - 22nd, if you are about. Would be good to see you again if you are. Will send pm with email address, in case I get cut off for not paying!

Hello Margaret, I thought your recent gathering was different from Motorhomefun, apologies for crossed wires. I thought this was a different group of people trying to arrange a get to tether. Hope you are both well. Donald & I won't manage August as work comes first I'm afraid! ;(

Sorry it was unclear! It used to be that our meets and gatherings were from 4-6 different forums - because, as you say, it is difficult to get many people together in the Highlands. The last one was almost entirely from one forum, which is presumably why you thought it had nothing to do with this one! Now, it is fair to say, I can get enough people from one forum, so it is easier just to stick to that one, but it does not and will not exclude anyone from here or anywhere else if they want to join in.
All the best and safe travels
Margaret
