3PSMF tyres - Crossclimate, or Crossclimate Camping?

E Tyres have a massive £20 off if you buy 4 Conti Vanco 4 season 225/75 R16 121 rating tyres with Xmas discount code: Xmas20.
£200.80 each, less £20 for 4 fully fitted at your home.
Don't all rush at once, will ya?:giggle:
PS: I wonder if they would fit metal valve stems?, maybe its only the Michelins that need them due to the higher PSI they are inflated at, but I have heard that some tyre places don't carry them in stock as standard, so might be worth asking before the fitter turns up, if needed of course. Anyone with Conti's fitted have metal valve stems I wonder?
LES
Yes metal valves but the maximum pressure ours can run at is 83 psi.

Fitted the Michelin Agilas cross climates this year and run them at 65psi on a A class. They made a huge difference to the ride quality (as did the semi air I fitted) and if parked up for longer than 2 weeks I take the weight off the tyres with the self levellers, not too sure if that’s really needed but it makes me feel better !

I just had a look and that was not the answer I got!
Interesting... the website says they have them but ATS near me (who get the job of fitting the tyres) came back and said 'no'. Maybe it's a local thing.

Markha Here you go Asda Tyres have them in both 116 & 121 load ratings. Cant help but notice the Asda website is the same as The E Tyre one, even uses the same discount codes.

grasscutter can you tell me where your quote was from as I shall need 5 new tyres before the new travelling season gets under way. Who is your "local" guy as I'm not a massive distance away?
To update on my tyres. I use Sidlesham Tyres near Chichester.
Since posting I have done a lot of research into the tyres I need.
Between chatting with my local supplier and three phone calls to Continental Tyres technical support ( who were superb) I have opted for Continental Vancontact Camper Tyres 225/75/R16. 118load
at £205 each fitted.
These tyres carry the M&S and 3 peaks symbols so they cover the requirements for much of Europe winter requirements.
My reasoning for these tyres was a bit of belt and braces to stop any insurance wriggle out if a tyre should blow and cause damage to the van. They have the CP mark.

Thanks. I was leaning towards Conti's. They are the ones currently being used by Carthago apparently. Probably got a better deal than Michelin.

I wouldn't fit CP tyres only useful if you want a bo eshaking rock hard ride.
I got rid of the Michelin CP tyres well before there were worn out and fitted Toyo Observe Van. The ride, handling & grip is so much better.
Due to the ever increasing price of tyres I am seriously looking at a new set of Toyo Observe tyres. I have checked they are 10 ply and will come direct from Toyo uk and be less than 12 months old.
Whats not to like at less than £120 each delivered?

That's a good price at the moment assuming 225/75/16.

Yes, 225/75 16 121load rating and 10ply. Had a chat to the supplier and he has warned of a price increase 1st Jan. So I need to decide pronto. My Hymer is 4250kg so well within the load rating of these which is generally better than the Conti campers which are usually 116/118. I tried locally and no one had stock or were bothered to even get a price and check availability.
Thinking cap on now.

I took the plunge after getting myself confused with reviews, helpful suggestions and the general inability to make a decision and have put Falken Euroall Season Van 11 on (225x75R16 121) which seem a good ride so far.

If you ring Toyo they will give you the nearest tyre retailer to you, they told me they don’t sell to the public direct

I didn't think they did but someone on here on another thread said they got them from Toyo. I wonder if they clicked a buy now button and it took them to a retailers site.

Are the Toyo Observe van tyres ok to run in hot weather Lenny,

Right now anyone using their van is probably thinking 'snow', but in general it's wet grass and subsequent mud that is my main concern. I appreciated that can't really be uniformly tested, but I guess the amount of cross tread is a reasonable guide?

What chassis and weight are you please

Not noticed any difference in 30°+ quite a few Funsters running them all year.
Thanks, they emailed and said they were ok for summer in Uk so I thought I would check with you x

We have the Michelin Cross climates and are very happy with them. Worry a little about the rotation fitted on the spare. Not sure if it’s safe to drive with the wrong rotation for any distance.

So in the pouring rain and gusting wind we drove to Sandringham today. The tyres are like light and day compared to the camper tyres we previously had. The grip is more reassuring but the lack of road noise and the no more crash banging was an absolute joy. I had emailed Falken and they sent me a guide to tyre pressures. So I’ve used the fully laden pressure of 5.75 bar as a starting point and was genuinely gobsmacked at the difference.

5.75 bar that seems high, it's 83.4 psi a bit high but depends on you axle weight.
I run my Toyo's on the rear at 69 psi axle weight 2300kg. The fronts at 56 psi axle weight 1930kg.

According to the chart I can run 3.75 at the front and 4.5 at the rear but thought I’d give the “fully laden” pressures a go, given that we were full fuel, full water, extremely laden with the essentials for a New Years celebration and towing the hair dryer.

After a bit of dithering my local ATS garage decided that they COULD get the tyres I originally wanted, £64 off the usual price (and a free lego model car thrown in to the deal...) so now we're all set for Europe in the snow with a new set of 3PMSF Michelin Cross Climate Camping tyres. Thank heavens they won't need replacing until about 2029... Thanks for all the advice and opinions!
