360 degree camera systems

I’ve not had 360° cameras fitted but I have seen the Motorhome Retrofits system which is fantastic.
They have done work for me and the attention to detail is second to none.
I can’t speak highly enough of James and the team in Poole.

Do their camera's have infra-red i.e. LEDs within them so they can see at night, just curious?

I used a relatively low cost solution in my old MH by fitting an eight camera CCTV/DVR system.

Using only seven cameras, one camera out the front, one camera looking back along the left side, one looking back along the right side, one facing forward aimed at the front corner for parking assistance, one aimed straight down at the fuel filler cap so I always lined up perfectly at the pump, one looking down at my bikes and keeping an eye on the Jeep, and finally one looking back down the road. A 10” screen gave me 4 cameras as default, and a click of the mouse could change anything that needed to be changed, such as looking at my fuel filler camera as I pulled along side a pump.

I’d modeled the system on a four camera unit that I had installed in my van conversion. For that I just had one at the back, one down each side and one facing forward.

Oh, and nowadays I’m planning for when I’m too old to drive, assuming I make it that long. I keep a copy of 100% of the forward camera view. I figure someday I might just be sitting in my rocking chair reminiscing the thousands of miles of travel.

We are having the Camos Omni-Vue™ 360º Digital HD (3D) system fitted at Trailer Vision next week.

Having met with them at the NEC show we will have 'markers' on the created image of the MH for each of the self levelling rams so we can check the ground view before halting to deploy. Particularly where we park the MH on a sloping 'pitch' at home. The grey waste location to make it easier to be over a grid. The Gaslow Filler position to make it easier to be at the pump, particularly our local Autogas station that has a high concrete base. Probably each wheel centre position. The tech is there, use it.

We follow oooohtooobers Extreme Motorhoming Adventures and saw this video that explains it well We applied the discount. We also had a chat with Andy & Michelle at the NEC to learn how Michelle is more confident driving their Carthago since having the camera system fitted.

Being used to a 360 camera system on Mercedes Benz S Klasse & GLE over the past 12 years am familiar with how useful they are.

Is Michelle as gorgeous and vivacious in person as she seems on the Vlogs? ❤️❤️

Mr Mousy as your request.
We made a mini break of it. Travelled up (ie from the South) on Wednesday evening and used a place found on Search for Sites, Holme Fen. Cross the East Coast main line railway at the Holme crossing on the B660, that way you arrive at Holme Fen facing toward Holme Lode level crossing without need to do a million point turn on the narrow lane. We left to arrive at 08:30 Thursday at Trailer Vision, only 3 High Speed trains through HL crossing, 2 up to London, 1 down. Interesting how they just arrive, with little noise.

Drive straight into the workshop, run through things with Neil, and Kes, who does the installation. Neil then dropped us in Peterborough. We had a wander around and then got a cab to the hotel, Days Inn that was well out of town. Might be worth finding a hotel in the centre as there is a lot of waiting, moreso if an A class as that takes 3 days. There is a new cinema opening in the Queensgate shopping centre that may while away the time. Probably in warmer weather there is more to do/see.

We discussed position and colour of cameras, going for the black ones all round with Kes, fitting them on the graphic line to blend in. The rear below the factory reverse camera. The front in the MB Star similar to OEM position on our GLE. We decided on the 7" screen as the 10" in the Sprinter cab was just too big. We had it fitted using the windscreen mount that is in place but not used on the Sprinter Tractor Head our MH is built on. There was no issue with the Remis blinds as they don't go over the OEM binnacle that houses various sensors and cameras for driving aids. This option may not be available on other base vehicle configurations. Placing it on the dash centre or driver side as lots on Fiat base vehicles do, wasn't suitable for our use. We can both see and use the screen from our cab seats.

Dean does the software and graphics work. We specifically wanted markers on the screen graphics to show the position of the waste outlet, the gas inlet and the position of each of the M-Level rams in order we can ensure we don't deploy on unsuitable ground as our 'pitch' at home we had built for our previous caravan that now hosts Velma the Weinsberg with 2 rams deployed. Dean also models the roof furniture ie satellite dish, solar panel, skylights. He also put a 'Weinsberg' graphic across the roof image. Together with our orange logo of a scene we have on the rear of the MH.

The power switch that gives options of ignition supply, off and leisure battery is mounted in a false hole in the MB Sprinter dashboard. The leisure battery option allows the camera system to be operated when away from the MH and together with a 128Mb SD card loop records all 4 cameras for 15 hours, then continues. The screen can be put in dark mode so not showing all the time. There is a remote control that can be used as well as buttons on the side of the screen.

There is a multi use switch in the dashboard that allows switching through the various modes, that can be specified or left on default. We chose to leave as is, so forward, reverse, left, right and bird eye view can be scrolled through. Also the system is set such that operating indicator will bring up up view of side/top down on that side, if hazards put on all 4 direction views plus overhead. Reverse has guide lens at 0.5, 1.5 and 2.5m distance.

The control unit with SD card is under the passenger seat on the Sprinter Tractor Head as leisure batteries are in the garage. Cables to nearside camera are fed in existing trunking. Offside there is a small piece of trunking in on overhead locker. Other cables run under the MH and secured to the chassis, including OEM ones that were thrown in on build.

We are dead chuffed and have used it immediately in the dark en route to a pub stopover in St Neots where we used it to park up and record whilst having dinner. Then on way home via Stowe House where manouvering through tightly packed temporary car park with awkward gates were easy peasy. We then used it to manoeuvre to the gas fill point at a local LPG Autogas place.

Some images, the iPhone camera doesn't like the image on the screen, but you'll get the idea:

I hate you lot.. feeding my FOMO anxiety..

So I've done my research and the camos system seems to be the one I want.

But are there any North West fitters that can be recommended?

They fitted ours on our drive 😁👍

Interesting seeing the current spec , very much like our 2016 system but nicely tweaked

I think I would go for a twin display next time presuming we change and I can still afford it, being retired isn’t all good 🤔😁
