So, I'm given a premium increase of 30% on my travel insurance. I haven't claimed. The reason? "Higher medical costs now in Europe, and currency fluctuations". Anyone else this is a rip-off, or are these genuine reasons?

Given inflation the drop in value of the pound ( it just keeps bouncing around) what would you do if you were running a health insurance co ?

Same as increased costs for Eurotunnel

Sure, it bounces around. You take an average of some sort. The pound/euro exchange rate is currently almost exactly what it was a year ago.

Ours went up this year by £20. Nothing like your increase though. Ours is worldwide so EU prices not really relevant.

We live in uncertain times and added the Eurotunnel link in the previous post

Just think about the cost of MoHo’s now fuel etc etc

No, I don't buy it. Anyone any suggestions for sensibly priced multi trip european travel insurance? I may come back with my tail between my legs, but I reckon I can beat £450 for two people.

Here is another link about the rising cost of MoHo’s

Go for it and hope you are able to do it 👍

Hardly relevant. I'm talking about travel insurance.
I purchased a T6 in 2019 before the Covid outbreak I can sell it today for the same money ‘stuff’ is more expensive today and that applies to most goods and services.

Well, there's a lot to wade through, but so far found 35 policies all cheaper than my renewal quote. Some less than half!

Just rely on our bank account, since they changed underwriters have to pay £90 to extend it from 30 days per trip to 45 for both of us.

European travel insurance annual policy was £31.96 for myself and wife. I took this out in October. I thought this was very reasonable. We don't have any health issues. I'm just over 60 and my wife a few years younger.

We've got European travel insurance through Makesure - £268 for both of us. We both have a couple of medical problems and over 70. No idea what they're like if you need to claim as never needed to claim.

Wait until you read the T&Cs though as many won't have the cover especially if you want over 30 days ...

I find that VERY hard to believe ... is it a typo or just for a single trip/short trip?

You only find if things are value for money when you make a claim?
There are company's that have been recommended by some that personally I wouldn't go near with a barge pole (not this particular thread).
While the internet has many failings being able to shop around is a benefit.
No idea of the OPs situation so no idea if he has a decent price or not.

It's an annual policy from Company called Tripsure. I got the quote from Confused.com.

It isn’t as easy for repatriation services since the B word for the EU, they have massively increased costs and paperwork at the border for any company that has no option but to cross such as those providing repatriation. The costs just get borne by the customer which is us.

Add on the fuel and inflation that has gone up across the world, and there you are.

Cos of my partners condition its over £1000 just for her so anything lower is a bonus.

So what does the policy cover? Number of days, trips per year, no of adults etc?

The policy says:-

... the standard number of days per trip is 31 but this can usually be extended to 45 or 60 days per trip for an additional premium.

Two adults.

It doesn't say anything about maximum number of trips. We have just done two weeks in Madeira and we have a week booked to Spain in February - so not an excessive amount of holidays so far.

What is the flex account is it a bit like Barkley card travel insurance? All thrown in
Bill
We used to rely on the free one from HSBC but they don't cover if over 70 as we both now are.
Now have a civil service one through the nhs retirement fellowship. Max 65 days a trip but no limit on number of trips.

Bill it’s actually Nationwide flex plus account, European breakdown insurance, travel insurance and mobile phone insurance for £13 per month providing you have no health issues. You just open and account and they will take £13 every month.
At the moment you can switch to one and get £200 cash back
