So, finish work 3pm Friday 29th December and back at work 8am Tuesday 2nd January and the wife and I want to get away for a short trip as we are working over Christmas :-/

Just looking for ideas (other than don't do it or city break to Barcelona etc lol) Its either the motorhome or dont bother going away :-)

Don't care where, we are Bedfordshire just above the M25 and we did similar for Christmas last year where we did 2 nights at the Car Park in Lytham St. Annes so of course we are thinking of the same as a backup, but wondering if anyone here has any fave short trips?

Can be site / off site, don't care. Anything considered :-)

We're going to Skysea campsite at Port Eynon, The Gower Peninsular for New Year again.
Stunning scenery, beach 100 yards away, pub 150 yards that does nice food.
Arriving 28th December leaving 2nd January.
A few motorhomers go there for New Year.
Bit far from Bedfordshire for a few nights though I suppose.

Setthorns in the New Forest. Our normal Xmas break site and Brit Stop through the new year. May have Xmas with our Dads then New Year at Setthorns.

Carnonwollas Touring Park near Truro in Cornwall
Open from 27th dec to 7th January. Minimum of a 3 night stay, £30 per night incls Toilet/shower facilities. All hard standing fully serviced pitches. Licensed Bar is open from 27th dec to 2nd January.
Great site, quiet with good hosts.
The New Years Eve party is always well received with fantastic food.

Just go to a random quiet place and enjoy the peace, while all the hassle is going on everywhere else. 👍

We’re heading to Looe for the street celebrations and fireworks at 6pm and midnight on NYE. Nearest conventional site to stay on within yomping distance is Tencreek, a bit pricey but they will have all the facilities open including bar, restaurant, entertainment, etc.

Jasmin Campsite run by Jim is a great stop for christmas/new years. Nice and quiet, hard standing and hookup etc.
Not far from beach and decent bar in town.

If not, then Happyford CL in Louth. Just on the outskirts. Quiet and a steady walk into town. Lots of pubs and restaurants. But probably too late to book there as they are very popular.

The rest of my favourites are in North wales and I haven't been for a while so don't know their status.

We've just booked the caravan club site in Cambridge.. been to Oxford loads but never the other one in the boat race.
Like you we had no idea what to do this year, the dates make it difficult for us workers to get enough time for a trip across the water

Booked for three nights at the Morris’s site at Ludlow. Great site and stunning town.

The Cotswolds is my suggestion for that time of year as there will be stuff going on. In no particular order Broadway, Cirencester, Moreton in Marsh , Stow on the Wold or Burford ( but not the c&mc site named Burford as it’s simply miles out ).

Thanks all for the suggestions, lots to look at overnight if I get a break on my shift.

I will be in whitby, not interested in big parties for new years.....done all that decades ago...me and the boss will be happy in a layby 👍

East Anglia - Southwold area. Close enough not to be spending many hours traveling but with plenty of good places to eat etc.

Check out Saundersfoot. Banging week at the pubs and restaurants with plenty of live bands.

We love it but we live here so we are off to Newport, Pembrokeshire. Great location but need to speak Welsh 😂

Only been once onroute to ferry for one night stayed for 4, Bridge Villa campsite in Wallingford about 2 hours from you. We would definitely return when touring the area, lovely small independent site lovely owner, 5min over bridge to town. On SFS Great reviews and I would imagine town and walks along the river would be lovely at Christmas/New year. Hope you find what your looking for 👍

Hi.
If weather is dodgy find a site near RAF Duxford museum. Lots of little villages local and lose yourself in the museum for one day. Might be something going off at Old Warden Aerodrome. They sometimes have fly over displays.
