Man I can't wait. Me and my partner are gearing up for a grand tour of Europe starting at 9:30am on the 4th July 2024, followed by hopefully llots of fun in a tin can in years to follow. Having tried it out renting a few times in the last year we were going to be sensible and wait till next year before buying a van, but why change the habits of a lifetime! Half the fun of travelling is the anticipation right? So pleased we found this site and so pleased I didn't buy that Citreon relay to convert (what was I thinking?!). If we help anybody we surely will and grateful for any advice from travellers further down the road x

:welcome3: Sounds like you've got a plan.

Have fun! (y)

Trouble is - the days fly by even faster after retirement.

7800 and counting.

But the good news is - 21 countries visited by motorhome - and counting.
Wow, good performance ! 7,000+ days off…

The best thing is no matter how lazy or awkward you are, you cannot lose your job. The money just keeps rolling in, what there is if it of course. You will not have as much free time as you expect, up at the crack of 0900, breakfast and watch the news then your new house chores laundry etc. Wife now working shorter hours so free time over by three o'clock. You will gain an hours evenings tinkering when she goes to bed at ten ready for her next days gruelling four hour shift.

I enjoyed mine too, but not the tw@t I worked for
The sad thing is those unpleasant, often untrained, bosses think things only work with their constantly pushing the team. The truth is the team works despite the boss constantly micro-managing things. A good boss just needs to let the team know what needs to done and give them the equipment and facilities to do it. The team are invariably capable and proffesional and need no pushing, a lazy worker is rare and unpopular with the team and should me dismissed.

Love it ! we’re going to take 9 months off for travel but then my partner will get back to her job in the NHS to keep me in comfort to which I’m accustomed…

I agree with you my friend I guess you could say I am a boss, and I worry about my team when I go, there are some class A d***s in the service.

Officially just 25 days before official retirement, but unofficially the day I said sod this for a game of soldiers. Christmas 2019. Not worked since. 15 countries visited and 2 motorhomes later. Planning next yr already, not even finished editing the videos on the last trip and still editing photos of trip before that.
Good luck and enjoy.
