Quite! All engine manufacturers specify a normal range of acceptable engine oil consumption for their engines. The fact that a vehicle has not had a top up warning between sevices means simply it will be at the lower end of consumption and simply not tripped the top up light.
On my Volvo the last 'top up with 500ml' message I had recently was an interval of 4800mls. More than happy with that with 130k and also shows the monitoring system is working which is a blessing as there is no physical dipstick only an electronic one, which is for me as and aside, is another bit of technology too far!!
